Because *grenades are stoopid.
Chewchilla the Wookie Monster 27 jan 2013 à 19h22
They're purely ornamental except when he wants to kill himself with them(equalizer taunt)

Being able to bounce a grenade off a wall is supposed to be one of the demoman's great strengths and it'd be kind of crappy if the soldier could go the same thing. Though I kind of would like to see the pyro being able to use his flame grenades.

the equalizer & escape plan taunt will happily disagree with you
and add in the rocket jumper, infinite grenade spam ftw

Grenades were a carryover from TFC. They played around with grenades in tf2, going as far as to fully make one for demo, and model them on pyro and soldier.

However, in gameplay, valve found that players would often spam them before death, netting them easy kills. Due to this, and largly obsoleting a key part of the demomans role, they were removed from the game.

However, not wanting to waste the time spent modeling them, they decided to leave them on the pyro and soldier to spruce up parts of their model that was bland.

If you really want to use grenades, try demoman, as he has a grenade launcher.

I think they made the right choice. Look how Demos spam their frenades. Now imagine every class being able to do something like that.

I think you should stop playing on infinite ammo/no reload servers...

It would be sort of cool to have a flash-bang grenade for the Spy that replaces his Invis Watch.

I'd always thought that a smoke grenade kinda like in CS would be a great spy weapon.

he already use them in taunts and we already have somebody with explsoves : demoman
