The Steam Market
I'm sure there's been a thread about this before, and I'm also sure there's currency differences.
But, I gotta ask the people selling things in USD, PLEASE STOP.
I've been trying to get the backpack expander in the market to fall below $5.00 for a month now, and it still has only done it once or twice, and by the time I see it, someone else snags it.
But that's not the point. The point is, WHY ARE YOU SELLING FOR ABOVE THE PRICE IN THE Mann Co. STORE?
It doesn't make sense...
Either tell me why it does make sense or stop doing it please.

The reason they do it is because they want profit. If they buy an item from the Mann Co. Store, and then put it up for sale, they will more likely than not put it up for above the price they bought it, because otherwise they lose money. For example, if they buy a key, chances are they'll make it so they receive more money than they paid to buy it. If they traded for it, though, they might be willing to put it up for less than the Mann Co. price.

Yeah, that makes sense, but they can't see the fact that they have to beat the lowest price to get a sale. Why not just buy it from Mann Co.?

Why not just buy your backpack expander from the store while you're at it?

i get where your coming from believe, i bought keys like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lunatic from the marketplace when they where abundantly available for $1.86 on their (short time unfortunately) for trading and uncrating and it was good sure you payed a bit more then on outpost with paypal transaction and the risking getting shafted but marketplace took that out of the equation no risk of getting scammed, but people cant help ♥♥♥♥ on a good thing most people would rather try and sell things over mann.co price then take a perceived loss (if you trade metal that you got from smelting weapons for a key and then try to sell key for $2.75 or + your an ass with hope). its a good tool we just have to bear with it and be quick shoppers whenever someone does sell a key for under $2.00 or whatever your looking for at least for now.

Yeah, it doesn't make any sense. Why would you even buy something for more when you could just as easily load up TF2 and buy it for less?

personally i just think 1/4 of any population (steam user's in this case) are retarded and this is a consequence of that.
ASUSHOTGEX 26 jan. 2013 às 22:52

In the UK they sell backpack expanders for 3.50 pounds which when converted to USD cost $5.50. A few other countries they cost more than $6 USD, so people can buy it cheaper at the steam market.
