WHATS WITH TF2 KEYS?

im not the smartest tf2 player in the world but i know if there is something in the store that is really popular and permanent it shouldnt rise to 3 ref a key from when it used to be 2 ref a key. prices are really insane and i need some peoples help why is it rising?

Blame it on Halloween rush, when everyone was using keys to uncrate unusual with exclusive halloween effects (Only avaiable by uncrating in halloween) Key demand skyrocketed, so did trade price.
I guess now traders are just trying to hold on to that price the longer they can.

That seems stupid cause they are in stores and hopefully backpack.tf gets the right mind to change there price so people who use it alot will calm down cause if we can calm it all down stuff will relax back to normal

I remember when TF2 was about fighting other teams and capturing points or flags and so on. Now it's about playing dress up.

yeah i like to have good acc. i mean who doesnt? its just i buy alot of weapons too but i cant buy weapons if keys are putting on jet packs and flying up in price. its going to eventually calm down. soon enough.

Don't expect to come down before the end of the year. Christmas is around the corner, and that means a TF2 update, with new items in their respective crate. (More festive weapons, maybe?)

So far there's only Festive Stock weapons. Anyone remember how time ago there was only Strange Stock weapons? Look now.
Valve will be sure to put something on the new crates people will want to uncrate from them.

yeah i just think they wouldnt release them but like they released stranges there will be more eventually i just dont think this year. you know what im saying?

People like to use keys as a method of making profit, by buying them at a certain price and selling it for more than they bought it for. Let's say the current price of keys is 3.22 ref. The guys who want to make profit on them will buy them for 3.22, because that's what they're selling them for. So when they sell the keys, they sell it for 3.33 ref, and no less. As many people are doing this, the overall average price goes up to 3.33. However, this only works because of all the people who continue to buy keys, either to uncrate boxes or to make profit. So now that the price of a key is 3.33, they start being sold for 3.44, then 3.55, and so on...

Also the marketplace meant a great influx of key supplies went there instead of to the metal market.
Many choosed to sell them for money instead of metal, which means less keys being sold for metal, specially during the first days of the marketplace.
Now the key prices have risen on the marketplace up to almost the store price. Which makes them hard to sell there, so they come back to the metal market, using the previous metal price as base line, as mentioned above.
