Tf2 validating steam cache files?...HELP!
Well every time i click to load up Tf2 it comes up and say's preparing to launch like usual and the after a couple of seconds that disapears and a diff loading screen comes up with a new loading thing that say's validating Tf2 cache files so i have to wait for that to finish then go back on and click play on tf2 and then it loads up how it used to (after validating steam cache files thing), but for the past couple of months it has had to do this "validating steam cache files" and i am just sick of it, i have tried right clicking tf2, going into propities, and going defrag cache files and then once that is finished it doesnt do the validating steam cache files thing, but then once i finish playing it and go back to get back on it later it has to do this validating steam cache files so even if i do do the defrag cache files thing every time it is still having to wait about 15mins or more for it to be done and then launching it again so it is still making me wait for two loadings to go though. (not that the preparing to launch thing takes long it's just the validating steam cache files or defrag cache files that takes 15minutes at minimum. so can soemone plz tell me what this "validating steam cache files thing is and whats it about and most of importantly...how can i get rid of it???.....HELP!!!

happens to me every time i log onto steam, just let it load and go to 100% and leave it at 100% for a few mintues then close if it dosent say all steam files are validated, then launch and should work fine,it takes awhile though xD

Happens to me every time the computer turns off. Havent found a solution other than hibernating the computer rather than a full shut down.

The items are stored in the Steam cloud, they aren't stored on the computer itself so you can't delete the items.

The items aren't related to the actual cloud sync feature, that's for user settings. But I know what you mean.

I have the same problem. But i fixed it. You know how? Do you have any, any skins or anything added? If you do backup your tf2 files then the validating will stop. But i couldnt play the game without skins so i wait until the validate is finished. I hope that helped :)
