A big thank you to the mods for the pin!!!

Ok, so you click to launch TF2 or another awesome game. but then, all of a sudden, BOOM! message comes up: Validating Game file cache. You: WTF I cant play my game!!! Steam: hahaha im so glitchy and they wont fix me, sorry! so what do You do? you sit there. and wait. it hits 100%. you wait some more. nothing happens. you wait some more. and some more. finally, the game wont play at all, so you come to the game hub for help. And rightly so.

I HAVE TEH ANSWER!!!!!!!!! :D

Just Reinstall the game. it takes away the cache thing and you should never need to deal with this again. If so, rinse and repeat

here are other way(s) to fix this problem:

Exit Steam entirely.

Browse to your Steam installation (Usually C:\Program Files\Steam\)

Rename the "steamapps" folder to "old_steamapps"

Re-launch Steam and re-install the game.

Once the installation is complete, test the issue.

If this resolves the issue, you may copy the new files into the "old_steamapps" folder and rename it to "steamapps" to restore your other games without re-downloading.

If the issue is not resolved, you can rename the folder back to avoid having to re-install other games

try restarting steam, thats what i did and it seems to have worked.

yeah i posted on a mods profile page and he said he would think about it. cross your fingers. this could save TONS of spam and help lots of ppl, being that about 10 oof these threads are made in any given 10 hours

Yes, every time I opened steam it would validate, EVERY SINGLE TIME, and it would take a pretty long time to finish doing it, in result games couldn't be played until it ended.
After doing it I relogged on steam 4 times and nothing popped up

I've already tried re-installing TF2, it didn't fix the problem completely though. Is there a different way I should do it? do I have to do an entirely clean re-install?

You may need to re-install steam itself
