Woah, wait, you're a girl?! (aka The thread that keeps getting necroed)
Everything said below the line is what I said and thought a long, long time ago when this thread was first created. I no longer care about this topic. I don't use the mic on most servers and I have found some great servers that I frequent.
Some people are asking that this thread be closed, but I don't know how to do that. I won't delete it either, though, because even though I don't care, I do recognize that other people seem to enjoy talking about this for whatever reason. So, there you go. And, as a final note, I do not accept random friend requests due to this thread. I'm not looking for steam buddies.
Have a nice day.
----------------------------------------------- Original Post
I'm a pretty good sport. So, the first ten times it happened, I wasn't really too upset. I'm not even *really* upset now. But given that every time I say something on the mic in tf2, instead of responding to me, the server comes alive with "OH MY GOSH! ARE YOU A GIRL?!?!?"
So, I'd like to know- are there any girls playing tf2? Or am I really the only one? Girls (since I'm assuming there are some out there) does this happen to you? How do you feel about it?
And, boys, I'm curious to know how you feel knowing that there are likely girls playing the same games as you. I generally don't say anything after those little outbursts of confusion because I don't want to bother people, but I would like to try to understand why this is such an odd situation.
WOW! I was not expecting so many people to comment so soon. Thank you all for your input. Yes, I do know that no one likes jerks, so please know that when I talk, it's mainly to alert a teammate that they're about to die, or to respond to a question. I guess I really just need to get used to it. I do appreciate the people who say they "don't care" at all. I was expecting that reaction more than the shock I got on servers.
Thanks again for the insight!
