Wtf is going on??
Ok, I'm new to TF2. I'm just going through and trying different game modes. I played King of the Hill on a normal server i thought. But everyone there is just walking around strangely and not killing each other and starts yelling at me for killing people...

WHAT THE HOLY FRIK IS THIS??

If there is some kind of weird roleplay server where people want to not fight and just walk around yelling medic nonstop(which is what everyone was doing), Can't it be explained somewhere so I can either know what's happening or go to a normal server and blow people up like I want to...?

Does anyone know what this was about?

They're just screwing around. People do that sometimes. If you want to actually play it'd probably be best to switch servers; killing them is just gonna make them mad.

yes, and yet strangely ... no.

Just find a new server.

It may have been a trade server. Typically people get mad at people who cap points, but this only goes for people who make em run actual maps and not custom ones.

The other thing it could be was what was known as a "Taunt Party".

It's when a bunch of players basically stop playing the game and spam taunts, voice emotes or just randomly eat sandwiches in a circle as heavies or Laugh taunt as a Demopan (bounty hat + glasses + Cape + Frying Pan loadout).

Typically if someone caps a point in this situation or tries to play legit, his team will stop helping or even try to hinder him if they can, while the enemy team focuses you or the one good player duels you while the others taunt and junk. If the "gaurd" starts to lose, more will join in to stop you making it 1 v 12 in a worst case scinario.

Happens from time to time, and not near as prevelent as games like Super Smash Bros. Brawl. But it does happen. Best I can say is swap servers or try your luck. You can usually get away with some taunt kills before being ganked!

Just remember, saying sorry may not be enough, you have to duck or "teabag" near a player to let the taunter know you did it on accident. (you can always lie and do it some more lol)

Friendly server. Just switch the server.

When on a server where people are friendly, don't kill them, it just makes you a ♥♥♥♥.

No, it makes them ignorant for assuming everyone understands unwritten rules. Such backward thinking in this community, seriously.

To the original poster: this is just the tip of the iceberg. Just wait until you see the other infuriating and unreasonable things some players of this game are capable of. Good luck.

Thank you. Very much agreed. I'm perfectly happy to let people play however they like if they would just inform me of what I'm supposed to be doing, so I can choose to either join in or leave, instead of just thinking I'm supposed to be shooting people like normal and then getting yelled at. Since I just recently upgraded a very old PC, I'm kinda new to the modern gaming world, and I wasn't even aware there was such a thing as a "friendly" TF2 server.

Is there some secret underground forum somewhere where these things are explained... like when a group of 20 or so people ALL decided to get on a TF2 server and run around yelling "medic"? How do people find these things out and plan them in the first place? It sounds like a flash mob, but a lot less fun. "Hey guys! Wanna go on TF2 and NOT kill each other and press 'e' repeatedly??? Call everybody! Quick!"

Lol

yes these servers can be fun (depending on your mood) and can also provide great market garden targets (that gets them mad)
