SteamPipe and the crash of Source SDK
*Edit* (Fix found):

Rewrting certain lines in "Gameinfo.txt" seems to solve the problem. The link http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=21166 Good luck!

Old post:
I am stunned that this problem isn't talked about around those who work with Source SDK, especially TF2 modders. The fact that after Steam Pipe gone live, almost every tool inside Source SDK and most importantly Valve Hammer Editor stopped working! Authoring tools for CS:GO and L4D are intact, but the Source SDK has gone completely bonkers. "Default scheme error" is the only thing I can now squeeze out of it. So I wanted to ask: WHAT the hell has happen?!

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7388-QPFN-2491 Look at the last line, it says Bugs: The SDK and content creation tools have several major problems. Please bear with us, we are going to get these fixed soon. We don't have any intention of abandoning our content creators!

Understood. There was a thought flouting around that after SteamPipe update Source SDK could go fragmented, that is - every game will get their own authoring tools like L4D, Portal 2 or CS:GO. I wonder how much of this idea could be true in regards of older games like TF2, HL2, etc? Does anybody know?

There is a beta in the Team Fortress 2 properties, which updates the SDK with new files for the SDK tools to work with it. However doing this doesn't seem to fix anything at all.

I just read you have to change your gameinfo.txt also, for it to work
Dogheadfish May 4, 2013 @ 2:22pm
I tried it............

I dont even get the default scheme error any more it just crashes when i open a map or starta new one..even after the sdk tools beta install.now i'm going to try to add the app 211 thing to my gameinfo.txt, to see what that does

Has there been any news on how to fix this manually? I have been making a map and now I cant :c

I read they are working on fixing it, or releasing the new sdk. I hope it's the new sdk, and fast :)

People still having problems? In Source SDK you can click on "Edit Game Configurations" and set the directory in teamfortress 2, which has of course switched to /common/teamfortress 2/tf2 now. There are still issues but you can launch hammer etc this way
Professor Catus May 19, 2013 @ 2:02pm
That was done before I wrote the topic, didn't work, Hammer crashes with "default scheme error", wish it would be that easy.
I still wonder if Valve is going to release SDK for TF2 as its own bundle of tools (as with L4D, Portal 2 and CS:GO)
