Crash issue after TF2 Update 1.5.2013 ... >:c
Why hello there,
I got this "Steam needs to convert blablabla" thing today, as did everyone else. I obviously clicked OK, it converted it, downloaded something, and said it was done. No problems here. HOWEVER...
After I started up the game, I realised my community HUD wasn't working (In the menu, still. Link: http://code.google.com/p/broeselhud/). I closed TF2, opened the HUD Installer and hit the "Reinstall" button, which I always do when there is some bug with it. So then I started up TF2 once again, it played the Valve / Source intro thing, then showed that 2fort thing that is in the background of the menu, and suddenly crashed. This has happened every time I opened TF2 since then. I tried reinstalling the HUD multiple times, then deleted it entirely, did what STAR_ (it's his HUD) said in the announcement he posted in his group, none of this worked.
Help? D: Please? D:

Yepp Im having this issue with PV_HUD
TF2 crashes every time i try to launch it with pv hud installed.
i can only play tf2 with the normal hud :(

But... i think its because of the update on steam, the huds havent been updated so i guess we just have to wait

Would you guys mind sending me a .dmp file of the crash? I wouldn't be surprised if the HUD got broken by the update, however it would be wonderful if the game didn't crash.

Look in <steam installation folder>/dumps.

Yeah, reinstalling the HUD probably wouldn't work because TF2 is using a different file system now. Tried to install my e.v.e HUD like that and TF2 kept crashing for me. I think it's because of custom fonts or something like that, and your best bet is to wait until it gets updated to be SteamPipe compatible.

Alternatively if I'm wrong (which I probably am), if you can get the files (resource, materials and scripts folders or something like that), you can put them in a single folder which you move to Steam/SteamApps/common/Team Fortress 2/tf/custom, where all your mods should be going.

Alright, I have verified my gmae files, it ssaid there were 62 broken items, it downloaded and isntalled them, and the game works :D
Sonu's got the right idea with the /tf/custom. Make some folder in there (jarate_king_is_cool is the best folder name) and put all the files that was in /tf/download into it. Works perfectly for me, hud didn't even need updating, and with the new system hopefully won't (until a new hud element gets introduced of course).

Mine is updating right now. Should i stop it?

If you stop it, you won't be able to play the game. If you don't have any custom HUDs / scripts installed, it should be fine.

For a temporary fix take all your files from tf/downloads and move them to tf/custom/my_custom_stuff and that should at the same time reinstall your hud. Hope Steampipe fixes soon

...and you may need to replace "reinstall your hud" with "download new Steampipe-compatible version of your hud and install that".

For instance, PVHUD 276.

Mine (modified ray's hud) didn't need any updating, just needed to be put in the custom folder
