Team Fortress 2 crashing Steam
Is anyone else having this problem?
I exited out from Team Fortress 2 about an hour ago, and when I tried to open it up again, a window popped up saying this:

"Steam needs to convert the game content for "Team Fortress 2" to a new, more efficient format. This will require an Internet connection and a few minutes' time."

Whenever I click "Ok", the CMD panel pops up, and after it automatically closes, Steam becomes unresponsive and I have to shut it down.
I've tried about 5 times now, to no avail. I would like to know if anyone else has been having this problem, and if they know how to fix it. Thanks!

It seems Steam may have screwed up with a SteamPipe patch, kinda like Garry screwed up Addons with a recent patch in Gmod...

Did steam remain unresponsive for an extremely long time?
Because for me Steam did remain unresponsive for a couple minutes before finally show the usual updating content message like with other games.

This is happening to me as well right now. It's very annoying.

Yes, I left it for a good 10 minutes before trying 3 more times.

This window popped for me as well after trying to enter tf2. After clicking 'Ok", it became unresponsive. Sorta peeved now :T. Left it alone for about..20 minutes? Anyway, i miss my tf2 ;;

You just have to wait. It takes like 10 hours for me cuz tf2 is my favorite game, but it takes like 30 minutes. It works when it is done.

http://steamcommunity.com/app/440/discussions/0/828937546068438728/ worked for me and my friend, I didn't asked to other people.

Still, there shouldn't be any reason why Steam should become unresponsive for such an extended amount of time.

Also, I noticed this 'update' just happened as TF2 reached 10,000,000 community contributions, so it's probably something related to that...

Happening to me, but I am just waiting til the update finishes, It didn't crash for me. It's at 20% actually but taking a bit to load to 100%

*FIXED*
Like Sevendi said, you have to leave it alone for a good half hour if it becomes unresponsive, it's fixed for me and everything is working fine.

Done that.

The problem is that this time, the update are moving slower than before.

this is probably happening because as doctor citrus said, reaching 10mil contributions they are probably upgrading their servers

Well, leave it open while you sleep! I'm 99% sure that it will be done by the time you wake up.
