I think its time...
I was on a server this admin was having PMS or some ♥♥♥♥ being moody cause I was using a splendid shield in a demo melee fight. They all had shields but some had the other ones. I think the admins need to stop being so butt hurt about every little thing someone does.

Oh they use a pan, they use a pomson bleh bleh bleh there items pixel pollys what have you. I didn't get kicked nor not sure if he was joking or not. But he seemed to only attack me when I killed him cause he was on a killing streak and i broke it lol.

I do like TF2 but the community has been really crapy lately to many under age people playing the game annoying others on mics and what not. I am a senior trader/player that means i have almost 10yrs on steam now lol. I think we need to start more mature only servers maybe have some admins who don't mind being on the server alot. I may think about doing this for the mature audience who love to the play this game but hate younger folks who annoy the hell out us.

So ya I think i'm gonna start my own server at some point any ideas what maps I should host was thinking about the default rotation. Just have quicker re-spawn time, better admins, no younger folks, and so on. Just fed up with all this pinion server crap and admins being complete ♥♥♥♥♥ cause there in a bad mood or they still gotta use there hand lol. Whatever the case may be just because you think you have power doesn't give you the right to abuse it. After all its a game lol!

Better Servers, More Admins, Less Admin Abuse on Servers. Fed up with pinion servers and stupid admins having PMS all the time....Stop ♥♥♥♥♥in' cause you gotta use your hand still.

Simple enough?

Well, as annoying as it is, they do pay for the servers, or are friends with those who do; it's unfortunate, but they essentially get free-range when it comes to power. The problem is that they can abuse it, because the rules are specific to the server; they don't need to abide by some rules, so if they allow twenty players screaming over the microphone at once, children or not, you can't really say it's an abuse of power, because it's essentially like walking into someone's house and saying you don't enjoy their abnormal decor. Are you right? Perhaps. Does it mean they abuse their power? Not exactly, because they have no sort of control over you outside the server network, which you aren't forced to use.

Don't get me wrong; I'm not defending bad admins directly, but that's just how the cookie crumbles. It's great how you're apparently willing to start a server network yourself, because it means you can enforce your own standards that will hopefully promote a more mature, ideal setting; best of luck with that, since it's essentially all you can do.

Pretty much all I can do. But ya I agree admins do have the right to do what they want. But it seems lately alot of people are having issues with admins not focusing on the bigger issue and just banning or kicking someone cause of he/she say. This is why there are chat logs and so on. Back when TF2 came out there was hardly any kid playing it cause it wasn't f2p.

Been thinking about this for awhile just making a server for people 21 and over only. No F2P at all no offence to you guys but if you love the game that much its not hard to find 5bucks. Its simple if you can afford the net and cable and electricity then you can afford 5bucks to give to steam lol. Anyways, so don't be shocked if I get a server going and you get kicked for being f2p and under 21. Back when tf2 came out the game was rated Mature.

Why twenty one? Just curious, because other than kicking for annoying voices, I don't see what age brings; maturity is a possibility, but a lot of adults will troll younger kids who abide by the rules, and that's a distinct lack of maturity on their part. Now, I'll admit many children are immature, but not all of them are; not to mention that it's rather difficult to verify age other than with a Mic, and even then, voices are not concrete proof in all cases.

Ratings are for a level of maturity, not age; some people are more mature than the norm, others not so much. Essentially, ratings are more of a "If you can't handle this, don't play it." than a "You must be above this age!" in their actual application; they're supposed to be restrictive, but you can't really verify age over the Internet, especially with Steam's method.

As for Free to Play, I'll mostly stay out of that mess, but it's a generalization that will handle a lot of problems; unfortunately, some are mature and simply new, while others just don't play enough of the game to view the benefits as needed. In any case, I'm not sure if you'll go through with it, but if you kick solely based on maturity, rather than age, I think you'll do a lot better; I'm only eighteen, but I'd like to think that I'm mature enough to play on your server, assuming you go through with the idea. I mean, it just makes more sense to kick based on maturity than age; the only reason age restrictions are supposedly put in place for games and such is because you can't judge maturity in the time it takes to purchase them, and in some cases due to the development of the body or mind.

If you're doing bash&slash for point-blank full-crits instead of only getting them towards the end of a long charge, you're exploiting a bug.

It's most likely not a bug, otherwise Robin Walker would have fixed it, seeing as how he plays Demoknight a lot.

It's a bug, considering that it blatantly contradicts the documentation.
"The strength of the charge is indicated in a meter in the HUD which changes color as it depletes. Using a melee weapon in conjunction with the charge will provide extra damage potential. For example, when the meter is white or green, a melee attack will only do normal damage. At the yellow color, essentially half of the charge distance, striking will add mini-crit damage. Finally, moving the full distance and attacking at red will give it a full-power critical hit. While charging, any enemy in the direct path will be bashed by the Chargin' Targe provided the player does not end the charge prematurely by attacking."

And yes, bash/slash works with the targe.

And the "Valve would fix it" argument is rather weakened when you consider other long-standing silliness like CM5K reflects being full-crit, or the vulnerabilities that allow speedhacks, or so forth.

On, I thought you were talking about the Splendid Screen. My bad.
I did watch the video demonstration on the Targe, and I didn't know it could do that. Maybe it was intentional or not, but you can always ask VALVe if it was intended or not. File a bug report.

It applies to both, actually. The Screen is supposed to do full *bash* damage at any range, and that's fine (in addition to doing *more* bash damage than a Targe bash, even if the Targe charge is full-length). That's not the same as doing a full crit with the *melee*, however; a bash/slash with the Screen should do full bash damage (which is fairly high and can be very powerful w/ Eyelander head bonus... up to 170, actually, without any crit-boosts in play) + normal melee damage. A long-range bash should do the 85-170 + full crit melee.

Personally, the question I'm asking myself is if an impact with any shield is considered a 'maximum travel distance' by the game in terms of programming; if the shield is supposed to go into red upon a bash, then there's no bug. I assume that may be the case, just given observation and practicality, since it would be incredibly annoying to have your full-crit canceled by a bash.

The question essentially boils down to if a bash is supposed to trigger a red indicator or not; I'm not sure if there's information on the subject, but if it is supposed to, there's no bug. If not, then there is a longstanding bug that should be fixed; in any case, the wording itself makes it clear that attacking before a bash shouldn't deal full damage, but it doesn't mention what happens after a bash, which is the issue here.
