If they did, I don't remember. Are you mistaking it for the Robot Chicken Hat (promo for adult swim)?

These might be super-farmed since reddit doesn't even require e-mail (from what I recall)

yet another 'do nothing, get rewarded' kind of cosmetics from the looks of it, granted it isnt the first of which (saxxy clapper badge, ghastly gibus, robot chicken hat, faerie solitaire pin). what I'm wondering is where the line will be drawn? will we someday get a hat just for instagramming a tf2 screenshot, retweeting from the tfblog, using #hat anywhere on the internet? its getting a little out of hand in my opinion

That time passed long ago, back when every other game started pumping out promotional items. Really comes into view when you go through the old commentary.

Maybe they'll only grant it to people who made accounts before the promotion was mentioned, or an account that is at least a month or week old to prevent hat farming?

Well, the ghastly gibus has an extremely bad reputation, badges are primarily only for showing you were there for something or did something (which renders the saxxy clapper badge pretty useless), the Faerie Solitaire Pin you had to own a game for it (and its still a small badge), and the robot chicken hat epidemic was pretty bad, but most players didn't farm too much, but still ;_;

Nah I have that promo (Long time Adult Swim viewer and Robot Chicken fan) but I could have sworn at some point there was a twitter hat. I tried to look it up on the wiki though and it doesn't seem to exist.

Still my point still stands, there have always been niche hats in TF2 (The buds, Tux, Adult Swim promo etc) so I don't understand why people would be making a big deal over an item, and from reddit no less...

Oh well, gotta love those 1st world problems.

Because it's a hat. Hats are serious business, when the Reddit hat is not worthy to become a 'currency' like Max's Head, buds and so on, then people will of course scream out loud.

That's true. I'm just curious if they'll have something in place to stop people from making a whole bunch od reddit accounts. It is pretty cool they're working together though, they're both pretty giant companies.

I don't think so. They gave a promo code out when you signed up for an Adult Swim newsletter, so maybe something similar will happen, or maybe you're right.
