Botkiller Weapons' Prices Dimishing?
I've recently read am article, saying the amount of botkiller weapons are getting added more and more to the game every day. Therefore, their values are decreasing. Does anyone know from their experience if this is true? I'm just curious, are the value of stranges (especially strange scatterguns) dimishing as well?

Well, it's not like the number of botkillers in existence will ever decrease by a notable amount, so they can only really decrease unless their numbers get limited by something like Mann Up being axed. I don't know exactly how fast they're going down, though, and if the decrease is even noticeable.

Strange Scatters are probably going to increase if they do anything since the last crate they came in was retired last month. If they come in another crate they'd probably plummet, but that won't happen too soon.

Uncrateable Stranges in a lot of cases have their prices tied to how long ago their crates stopped dropping. This is why weapons like the Caber and Kritzkrieg are so expensive, but things like the Baby Face are only like a rec, and in the case of the Pain Train and Persian Persuader, practically free.

What? This insane guy was selling a golden botkiller for 8 key? Lol, would you say I should buy a silver botkiller scattergun for a key?
the\guy 2013 年 4 月 2 日 下午 7:29

What?! I thought diamonds were like 6 ref. Im really confused right now. Do ouy think 2.66 ref is more resonable for a silver? Also, do you have a botkiller scattergun that your selling?

Look, just use http://backpack.tf/ for approximate prices. Silver botkiller scatters are ~2-2.33, so 2.66 would be overpaying a bit.

lol ok, but over paying a scrap, so i wouldnt really mind lol

Tf is voted on by a self selected group of people who self select their evidence;) Evidence which is a subset of all trades because most cannot be proved at all if you even think about it for a second. If someone is selling multiples, how do you really know how many have changed hands and at what price behind the scenes? most people don't actually post on outpost before adding, you can't even watch backpacks because people have more than 1 much of the time. Plus we're talking maybe 2-3 "evidences" when tf2 community is how large? Basically anyone dealing with statistics would laugh at such self selected samples of such small size.

The idea that botkillers are flooding the market is bogus. Why? Botkillers are expensive to acquire, by gaming standards 1 dollar for ~30-40 minute mission is very expensive game time. Mk1 silvers and rusts, take 6 dollars total to have a chance at blood/gold, making them undesirable for grinders because its both not fun and expensive. So even the "easy" to get botkillers are not farmed to any significant degree. Expert is hard, and even advanced mecha is not that easy for most, and the cost is a significant barrier that keeps the pool who grind these very very small. Most importantly since these modes are all now old, I doubt there are many new people who will play many tours. Its been slow for a long while now, if you are down people for a group, it can take along time for your team to fill out, meaning the queue for playing isn't big enough to have enough viable candidate players to just slot into your game quickly.

Plus most have figured out just how hard it is to get a diamond or gold, it took me 44 tours to get 2 diamonds for instance, 13 to get 1 gold. Some are luckier, some less so, but you get the picture... its almost always cheaper just to buy the botkiller out right...

So no, there is no risk of a botkiller flood...the article is wrong.

Its just a personal choice. But I certainly wouldn't buy a regular scatter hoping it will go up in price...as I explain below.

Additional factor is whether the weapon is worth while. Babyface blaster is not a good weapon, so it will probably never rise in value. Kritz rose in value because there are no alternatives. There is no botkiller kritz, yet. Scatters will never rise because there are alternatives galore. Remember the huntsman? It used to be expensive...but when the festive huntsman came out, boom, the price tumbled, same with the mackeral, because now you have an alternative where there was none before.

yep, i still have two.

Its been a while since i played them, but advanced and intermediate....6 missions, thats probably 5 hours, and 6 bucks come to think of it. You'd have to be out of your mind to grind that lol;) Adding an additional factor that even newbies who do these will probably have enough time and suffering invested that they are unlikely to be willing to sell their prizes for so little, and would rather keep them after 6 dollars is spent, meaning that even fewer are on the market even if people play.
