Team Fortress 2

class reskins
so, for those of you who stay strictly on the official servers that don't allow custom skins, there is a staggering number of mods to adjust the appearance of weapons, hats, etc. On a relevant note however, I have been attempting to install the pyro spacewarrior and nem's battle-hardened soldier reskins, and been running into some issues, I've got the aerial arsonist (or whatever it was) pack from the workshop already installed, so that may explain my issues with the pyro, but the soldier reskin just seems to be something done wrong on my part, on installation, I merged the provided folders with their counterparts under /steamapps/surge753/teamfortress2/tf

Do you have a link to the mod? Assuming newer updates didn't break it completely, it could be that the files were named wrong or in the wrong subfolders.

They flat don't work with MvM or valve servers. I dunno why, but whenever I used my Scout and Medigun (Fox Scout and Kralle) They refuse to work on any VALVe Created server, from my experience.

I think they run a special version or sv_pure, or something because sv_pure servers that are not MvM or VALVe tend to work fine. Everything els is instacrash. I haven't ran any HUD mods so I can't say if those also cause issues.

I'm no programmer, heck I berrily know the Console for TF2 or how to use special server side commands. But something about the VALVe servers just hate mods.

They run sv_pure 2, which completely disables mods, instead of 1, which has a whitelist that lets specific content through. I'd assume custom HUDs would be disabled on sv_pure 2 servers but I dunno.

I'm having reskinning problems too: I tried to reskin everything I had in my TF2 to can have it a 100% personal TF2,but for some reason when I do how they say to do it,it works the first 5 days and then TF2 re-downloads itself to can fit my computer's power. I seen the skins got removed ,so I looked up my tf folder. it wasnt in /supermaniop , but in /original I found my TeamFortress2 folder. did like if nothing happened, and re upped the skins like I did when it was still in /supermaniop. The effect:no reskins. Checked back in the folder, wondered what happened,re downloaded TF2 and re-added the skins, nothing. Help?

TF2 is in common now. You need to put mods into Steam/SteamApps/common/Team Fortress 2/tf/custom.

For each mod, take the materials/models/resource/scripts folders (basically, the folders that used to go into your tf folder) and put them in a single folder which you move to custom.

(I have it set so I autosubscribe to every thread I post in so that's probably why I replied at supersonic speeds lol)

I've added some of the main modifications that I want, and I've recieved an Error.
"Tried to add C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\custom\materials as a search path.

This is probably not what you intended.
..."
Help?
{λ³} گοηυ May 1, 2013 @ 1:53pm
You need to put the folders into one more folder that goes into custom. Never seen that error before, though...

Into ... "one more folder"? What do you mean?

Take the materials and models folders (assuming this is a reskin of something) and put them into a single folder. That folder goes into custom.
