Team Fortress 2
What is with all these idiots playing Spy?
I love TF2. I think it's amazing.

BUT ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥IT WHY ARE SO MANY SPIES TERRIBLE?!

In every game I play there seems to be at least 3 spies (which is definitely too many), of which either one or none are any good. I understand the best way to learn a class is to play that class, but why do people insist on playing Spy when they have no idea what they are supposed to be doing? And no I do not frequent valve servers. I will go to a valve server if there isn't room on the servers I usually play on, but if that happens I usually go to a trade server and mess around.

I will admit I am not the best spy and he's my least played class, but if I want to practice with him I will go on a 24/7 2fort server or a trade server, not a serious Control Point or Payload server Where I'll weigh the team down. (I usually play on Ozzie Furoscity servers, if you're curious.)

It might have something to do with the fact that Engie is my main, and I can guard my stuff from spies pretty well, but even so, one simply will uncloak or disguise right in front of someone, act in a way that makes it blatantly odvious that they are a spy or simply run at my stuff, undisguised, sapper in hand, only to be gunned down by my sentry or my teammates.

This happens so often, with at least 2 of these spies on every server. I know it's the players' fault, but wouldn't it be great if Spy had his own introductory video? Heck EVERY class should have one, in my opinion.

What do you think? (and no, not all bad spies are F2P)

There is a spy training included in TF2.

Because he appeals to pretty much everyone.

You can go invisible, you can disguise as the enemy, and you can backstab people for instant kill! Who wouldn't want to be the Spy?

I agree totaly. If you dont like the class and are not good at at it, why play as it all thge time. It just ruins the whole team. I have no answer to your question and i apoligize. Ijust cant think wh y people play friggin spy or sniper so much :/

Agreed that the spies tutorial is very, VERY lacking, It doesn't even scratch the surface of the class. Just the downright basics of "This is a sapper and this is what it does" pretty much.

But still, the best place to actually get better is actually playing in real matches (real meaning something other then a Surf Map where people trade) As good as practice trade servers are, a LOT of them run special mods, or are on wierd maps. A LOT of the spy is possitioning.

As to why the spy is popular, Brian hit the nail on the head. The spy is a pretty cool class, and who wouldn't think a class that can instakill with a stab is OP and a credit to team en' masse?

I dislike Spy because he can't fire my precious M249

Good spy usually top the score board. When F2P see it, they want to do that too. Then they just keep try hard dying.

Why would you want to be an engineer and fight several good spies?
Take advantage of your enemy's inexperience.

F2P never care, they want to play tf2 like TDM.

You act as if Premiums can't be bad at Spy, and as if Premiums players don't treat the game casually; unless you're playing on a competitive server, nobody takes the game at an incredibly serious level. Just look at Payload Race Hightower; people play the map like a Team Deathmatch, Premium or not, and those who try to do the objective get yelled at.

Spies are numerous because of the unique mechanics, and he requires practice to be good at; since players need practice, it's natural to have many people play him, especially when people don't often get the opportunity to be on a no-Spy team. Once there's two or three Spies, you tend to get more people spy-checking, which makes the practice irrelevant, but unfortunately, people don't see that; Premiums are just as guilty as Free to Plays when class stacking, especially those who "main" a class, and end up refusing to switch off even if their class is overpopulated on the server.

No, we are not that serious but we know tf2 is about teamwork.
Most F2P just ignore that and do whatever they want.

Games should only have one spy mostly the less spys the better more spys makes it harder for all the spys in game. Maybe 2 spies tops if your gunna work together with your friendly spy 2 spies can accomplish much working together most just go rogue though. But yeah if you wanna pratice spy its not gunna be good pratice if your team has alot just gunna make the enemy paraniod.
