Why do Players never use the chat bar?

Its really odd and kinda hinders the feel of a team if you're not communicating, I've been the only one on the my team who tries to communicate with the rest of the group, do peoples eyes black out whatever is in the bottom left? I just wish we communicated more.

Players that know how to use it, use it. You just need to search for them. Most people I know of use mics instead though. It's easier to speak than type.

Because I think alot of players dont take games seriously and they just play to run around and kill.That or they dont reply letting you know they read and are doing something about it.Some people reply but most of your team just keeps doing their thing.

Communication is Key. I prefer to do voice over typing. Alot of people hate how they sound, or don't want to be made fun of so they dont talk over the mic. I encourage anybody to talk, it does give the team a huge advantage

I dont use a mic because i play on a laptop my mic sucks i will use chat though if i see people useing chat.If everyone is quite then i dont talk very often because its ussaly ignored.

Do you own Rockband? If so, just plug a Rockband USB mic into your computer lol Works like a charm.

A headset is good. Plus if you use just a mic and have speakers going your team will hear all of the stuff in the background from your computer.

Using text chat in the middle of an explosive spamfest is suicidal. Expecting people to be eagerly awaiting your every post in text chat is silly, because they have better things to do such as dodging and returning fire. So text chat isn't actually that useful unless you're waiting for respawn or in setup phase, or you're asking general questions and it's not an alltalk server.

Using in-game voice lines also isn't that useful, because too many players spam them meaninglessly to the point where distinguishing spam from actual attempts at communication isn't necessarily worth it.

Trying to type chat is hard on most server because of all the spam. There is usually a million mods on the server that spams how many points each player is getting etc (kids have ADD these days and need to see all that).

Its why my server has none of that. I like the focus on team work.

It's usually because most of the kids come from Call of Duty or Halo and they're used to seeing all the killstreaks. Personally, I'm not a fan of it, but as long as it's not in my face, I'm okay.

A lot of people tend to forget that the chat box is there, that's why it's much better to get a mic (and get a working one, too).
Just like MADHATTER said, 'communication is key'. It's much easier to just say "Spy behind you Medic" than to watch him get backstabbed because you take 20 years to type a few words.
