Prices of Keys....
Lately prices for keys in Tf2 have gone up very fast. In december of last year, there were just 2.55 ref. Now in janurary of this year, prices of keys jumped to 3 ref. In feburary prices of keys went up yet again to 3.55 ref. Now in march, the prices of keys are between 3.88- and 4 ref. They ppredict by may of this year, prices of keys will be above 7 refined metal. What is your opinion about the prices of keys going up so fast.

It's not the keys, it's all the metal generated. Since metal is not used very often other than to craft hats, there's a lot of it. And don't forget everything generated from MVM.

Agreed somewittyusername, metal is a very easily spent item. But remember, this is keys we are talking about, not the metal industry. Way too complicated for me to handle.

hi there

well i might be able to help explain about the initial price rise in keys.

well as origionaly stated the quantity of metal in circulation is gradualy increacing as there are more players who are sighning up these days so naturaly since the demand for such metal is reduicing its value as it were will decreace. since keys are treated as something seporate from the metal industry, they unaffected by the price hike as they are an unusual commodity to come across in an average trade. in addition to this they are used in that ever slim chance that it might yeild an unusual ( or rare strange from salvaged) which ensures they are relativly constant.

now recently there was a large issue a while ago with credit cards and tf2. i wont go into details about this but you can look it up. during this period of time those who were involved bought buds for 30 keys rather than the origional 25 ( 27 i think) and then sold them back for something less. this upset in the balance between price of buds and keys not only has an impact on the value of buds ( which naturaly has increaced as people are not willing to sell for much less than the new higher price) but this also has increaced the value of keys against metal indirectly.

anouther reason for the value of metal to decreace is the inclusion of the steam market which now effectivly removes metal as a reasonalbe and viable bartering tool as now people can pay for items and even recive money from it. while this cannot be credited compleatly for the rise in key prices it dose help nudge it a little bit.

though to be personaly honest i though keys were 3.33 ref instead of 4 ref? you will get people who will try and buy something for a little and sell it for a lot so this might not help the problem any.

i hope this helps shed light on the inflation issue. :P

dont trade? if enough people stop giving to the hoarders prices will drop. the age old supply and demand only works as far as what people will pay for that digital piece you will never touch or wear.

Guys the key market is going up deal with it. I tried to buy a key at 4refs waited for an hr denied no hits. So I tried again at 4.33refs waited for an hr no hits. Everyone wants keys the more demand on keys the higher the price. We have to buy keys with real money at first. This is how they are on the market.

Right now the keys are going for 4.66refs. You guys gotta understand the market if you want keys then they are gonna continue to go up. If all of stop wanting keys and the sellers cant sell them for 4.66refs or 5refs a key. Then ofcourse the price will drop slowly will get back to 2.33refs? Prolly not cause the sellers will catch on and not sell them for low prices anymore and we have to start buying them at 4 to 5refs agian.

To be honest save your birthday money ask your prarents for paypal gift money for your birthday. Buy them from the mann co store screw the sellers for selling them at 5refs for 1key. Thats what i'm doing now if I can't even buy one for 4.33refs screw em. I rather pay 2.49 for a frickin key rather then wait 24hrs to get one key for 4.33refs.

Again understand the market its all about demand. If we hold out save our metal instead of buying keys for 4refs a pop or now 5refs. They will go back down to 4 maybe 3refs. Not instantly but they will if we all take a stand on this ♥♥♥♥. This is why the tf2 conomy sucks to many high balling profit ♥♥♥♥♥s. I'm not one I tend to do good deals I sell gift wrap at 4refs while others sell gift wrap at 6refs each.

I rather we all take a stand and get the keys back to normal price it was much easier to buy them and sell them at 2.33refs where everyone can afford them. The key market isn't loosing any keys you can buy keys all day any day of the night. Mann Co Store has unlmilted number of keys thats there bred and butter to keep mann co store alive. Sorry to rant but I believe this had to be said get real 5refs for 1 frickin key isn't worth it. If they want metal so bad they can horde it like us like they do with keys.

People who stock up on keys now will be filthy rich in TF2 within the next few months.

Ya no crap cause people are stupid enough to buy keys at 6refs a key or 10refs a key. Just like with salvaged crates they could of bought the crate 40's for 5keys but no they waited till there worth 18 keys now. People are just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ when it comes to trading they have no idea how it works.
