Have this issue too. All backpack items and anything new are listed as "Unknown Item". Were you also getting placeholder text for many of the newer items recently? I've been getting things like "#TF_July_Crate" for awhile before this.

I have this problem aswell.
I un-installed and re-installed tf2, still nothing.
I deleted resources and script folders and re-installed them, nothing.
I even deleted and re-installed my mods and huds, nothing again.
:/

Hi, All. I was able to solve this problem.
Step 1: Open to Steam\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2.
Step 2: Search the "tf_english". And delete "All" tf_english.txt.
Step 3: Open to Steam. Go to Library, Team Fortress 2, Properties, Local files.
Step 4: Click to "Verify integrity of game cache". and Wait for it to end.
Step 5: Start Team Fortress 2.
Step 6: Profit.

(Sorry for My dat English.)
