hitsound volume problems

I tried to add a custom hitsound (jerma's IT'S OVER). I succesfully added it except for 1 thing, the volume. The volume was pretty darn low so i changed tf_dingaling_volume "1" to 2. nothing happened... Again from 2 to 10, nothing happened... from 10 to 100, and still nothing happened... Does anyone know how to fix this (don't tell me i need to put it in as a command in the console, because i tried that already). Hopefully someone knows what's going on

thanks dude this really helped me out, now I can hear jerma scream its over everytime I hit someone :P
