"But in competitive!"
I don't understand why people use comp as a base for everything TF2. Weapons, classes. TF2 wasn't made to be competitive. Even in VALVe's eyes, TF2 is casual.

I understand highlander because it's just regular TF2. But gimmicky matches like 6v6 make me giggle. The game wasn't balanced for a 6v6. Why does 6v6 exist? Is there a reason other than "cuz"?

I'm not dissing anything. Just curious. It seems people try to suck any competitive out of tf2 and come out mostly dry because the game doesn't have a proper format for it.

Discuss.

I guess I'm the only person who saw a gameplay of TF2, read about it on Wikipedia, thought it was a fun unique team-based competitive FPS where every single one of your questions could mean the difference between winning and getting blamed by your entire team for the lose, and finally downloaded the game only to find it being a simple casual game where people just derp around and kill people pointlessly.

Youre right that the game wasnt balanced for 6v6, but leagues whitelist certain weapons to make it more viable.

6v6 is supposed to be very fast and quick. Less focus on strategy and more on general skill of aiming and teammwork.

I hope this thread isnt in reference to me ;_;

TF2 is casual. It's serious sometimes, yeah, but it's a casual game, despite some of the no-lives who play it. It doesn't force comp down people's throats. Not like Dota and LoL. Or how OverWatch probably will. It's hilarious, fun, serious, and again, fun.

Two ways to play any game is seriously or hilariously.

Pubs allow both.
Friendly servers use only the latter.
Competitive Highlander, 6v6, or TF2lobby servers use only the former.

Also, TF2 has the format for the perfect strategical FPS, so it does have a good competitive format. Except 6v6. 6v6 is just always
-2 soldiers
-1 demoman/2 demomen
-1 scout/2 scouts
-1 medic
on each team.

tl:dr
TF2 can be serious or fun. Both are great fun.

It's because people wanna feel like this game is more than what it is, while saying "Oh yeah? I got TENTH PRESTIGE, BIYATCH!" As a way to fool themselves into thinking this game is super cereal.

This game is chaotic, fun, and easy to get into. It was NEVER meant for competitive. Besides, people take competitive, think they are famous for playing it, and let it go to their heads.

They'll start throwing out orders, and outright TORCH the poor guy who died that very second. I gave UP on UGC the moment others were starting to do that. I actually LEFT mid game.

I told my team: "If you're not gonna have a good time, then I'll leave you with the bad."

Competitive is mostly a synonym for a match between equally skilled players, which forms, in my opinion, a good basis to get some good sense on how the game truly works.

I hope that when matchmaking comes out, they won't create a meta and enforce it, like in MvM.

Competitive Tf2 is like competitive Monopoly, silly and only taken serious by guys with absolutely no life.

Competitive TF2 is for people who don't want the carnage and stupidity of TF2. And if you don't want that, I would go to CoD.

What if I told you I played the game for 9 years? And that this profile wasn't my first?

And that it's around 74281 hours put in? That's without idling?
