Is it worth it to spend money on this game?

I've only spent 30 cents on this game to get premium but I'm getting that strange feeling I should pour my life's savings on virtual hats.

First: If you want to spend money, BUY A KEY.
Second: With that said key, learn about the game's economics. That way hats will ALWAYS be cheape than on the Mann Co store.
Third:DON'T UNCRATE. You will almost always make a loss.
And lastly: If you want to get into TF2 trading economy, don't start on outpost. You will be harrassed by lowballers, idiots, trolls and a phiser will probably add you to attempt to phish you. Use Bazaar.tf instead.

Good advice, Only use outpost once you've learned trading, I prefer trading on outpost since you have a lot more visibilty on your trades since more people use it, but bazaar is much better in general.

Learn the economy. Only buy keys from the store, most other things isn't worth it. Use the keys to buy other stuff you want. If I were you I would start off with backpack.tf's classifieds.

Spending money on keys is a lot better idea than hats. Cheaper dollar-wise than most hats, and you can get a hell of a lot of hats for a single key.

Or be a cool kid and buy vintages from the market, because vintage hats are 2cool4school.

If you can afford it and are not easily addidicted then yes imo it is worth it :)

A lot more people than you realize, trust me.

Well I have three hats for the 3 classes I main. I guess I'll save my money because I like playing more than I like showing the world that I have money to throw down. I think the experience far outweighs the cosmetics.

Of course not. Only spend money on this that

1) you don't care about, and
2) to support the devs and community, if you care to.

There are much more productive ways to use your funds.

I've bought a fair number of keys in my time, but essentially that's all play money to me; being rather gainfully employed and with a decent investment portfolio rather than a boatload of debt, it's a trivial indulgence and I don't mind supporting the devs a bit. The real cost for me is *time* that could be spent doing something else.

But if you don't have enough money that basically you're at the "not care" stage when it comes to minor gaming expenses, then you probably shouldn't.
