valve and community hats
As the name inmplies team fortress 2 has flaws, not just your old nitpicks ohhhh no... BIG flaws first the hats. Everybody and i mean EVERYBODY has made jokes or ranted about these hat updates that come almost every...... single....... FREAKIN UPDATE but no no this only 25% valves fault. We should be directing our attention to the workshop. You see valve wants everyone to get a chance at getting a brilliant idea of theirs in the team fortress 2. when they released the workshop they wanted people making amazing weapons, but instead.... THEY ALL MADE STUPID HATS. Now it was nice back then to see people making some lovely accesories but it has gone too far! The makers of garrys mod and sly cooper (facepunch studios) have noticed this, and made the arms contest, a contest where everyone will post weapons and they might get in! but its our fault the communitys fault that valve made all these hats. but people uploading hats has not stopped yet! People are still uploading hats! put a stop to this by sending these comments all over hat worksho pages. but stranger! what if it gets out of hand like bobs army against google+? I will let anyone post it as much as they want cause after all we are not trying to get valve to read we are trying to get the makers of these hats to see it. and those hat makers will probably be checking the comments on there stuff ounce and a while so spread the word open up the gates! come out of the closet! and tell the world that you are ugly and you are proud! you get 10 stranger bux if you got all those jokes! but jokes aside post your problems with team fortress 2 in the comments below!

I don't really bother reading the forums here much but there's a few odd ideas in your post

Adding new weapons to a game where there are 9 totally different classes already with 5+ unique weapon possibilities for each of 3 weapon slots is going to be hard. There are tons of weapon skins on the workshop as you say, but adding weapons that are both fun and balanced to the game is incredibly hard to do, adding hats is easier and more worthwhile for valve.

A lot of players forget that Valve is running a business here, are they going to put in the hard work to add weapons (that sell for less in the TF2 store and are harder to implement) or hats (which sell for a lot more and are much easier to implement)? The item creators are just going with what is more likely to get implemented and thus earn them money.

That being said I think the weapon selection in TF2 is massive already and really, is it such a bad thing if Valve's letting these skilled people make money from the cosmetic item workshop? I'd much rather they added hats than tried to add poorly executed or uninteresting weapons such as the Pomson 6000 or Family Business.

That's just my thoughts, hope that helps clear some things up :)

more hats will solve this

I get pretty sick and tired of people demanding that TF2 adds weapons faster. You don't even have to pay to play TF2 anymore. Why should they have to follow your expectations of a constant stream of new content in a game that's already huge? Heck, they've already made all the money they wanted from TF2, anything else at this point is icing. But, let me tell you something. All those hats that were added? The time it took to make and implement them is likely around the time it takes for them to make between 1 or 2 weapons, when you consider concepting and balancing. Hats don't need nearly as much concepting (you put it on your head.), and hats don't really have stats to balance.

Would you rather have a game with no hats and 2 extra weapons? Literally, two weapons. Not even for every class, or for every slot. Just two weapons.

You do know that the workshop importer doesn't support weapons right?

well i see your point and i think it is a very good point. i realy have no objection. what valve is doing is doing to series and then moving on to another series for example half-life they made two games and they were finished. same with team fortress. they made team fortress 1 and 2 and left. they made dota 1 and 2 they will update dota 2 a few more times and then add hats. but what i meant was someone else should start updating team fortress 2. maybe facepunch. cause they have nothing better to do. they finished sly cooper and gmod so they might as well update it they are the ones who started the contest

Garrys mod isn't a game where balance matters much. Weapons take work on valves part not the community to balance them, thats 90% of the work. So its not comparable to hats, anyone can pull ideas for weapons out of their ♥♥♥ but to make sure they are balanced or even workable is something else.

I'm glad I cleared some things up and we are in basic agreement there Stranger.

Again your suggesting that someone else pick up the game to continue updates is not really as simple as it seems. Valve still own and make money from team fortress 2, they will have no interest in letting a third party come on board (unless hired specifically which is not unheard of) and update a game that has basically had 7 years of development at this point. TF2 has had some remarkable longevity at this point and asking for more frequent updates is not really something I would be complaining about.

Also it's good to keep in mind valve's office policy, which basically has employees able to choose and support whichever project they would like to work on. As far as I'm aware most of the former TF2 team has moved on to help implement DOTA 2 and considering that game's success I think that was a good choice for them.
