Is this guy a phisher/scammer/hacker/whatever?
Hey all, so i got added by a random guy today, we have no past history, his account was sent to private (even though I added him) and said something along the lines of "hey mate, can you add *link* he cant add you and wants to talk about a game or something*
This is the second time this has happened to me, is it a scam going around or.. just me?
EDIT: another random just added me and said the same guy referred him to me, telling him to add me, wtf? his name is <removed>.

Yes it is a scam, the most common one and you can google the phrase and find billions of threads about it. You can also see that the URL is not steamcommunity.com but something slightly different like steamconmunity.com.

yep, it's phishing
if you look at the link, it's spelled incorrectly
it says something like ste*amco*munity.*com or st*eamcom*rnunity*.com

stuff like that

(random asteriks so you dont click on it)

Change your steam password right now and verify you have a correct e-mail in Steam information.

If you are on PC-installed Steam stay logged in until you do this. If you don't get "This account is logged in elsewhere" promt and quit you should be safe.

Good to hear, I see you have some valuable items. But not everyone is so lucky, some even go for "upload file ssfnXXXXXX" trick that by-passes Steam Guard... :/

And OFC remember to report the account that sent you the message. No use trying to message him because it's probably just another hi-jacked account.

Same thing happened to me, except Chrome (Thanks Google!) yelled at me about phishing when I clicked on login.

You too?? That makes the other 8 People plus me in my area! We all got phished by a bunch of different accounts! However they all have names that we cant find because their are too many people with the same name. for example the one that Semi- got me was named S. try looking for that name lol -.- need to somehow fix this issue. NEEDS TO BE FIXED.... lol only thing to counter this is change passwords for Steam, Email, etc. And hope nothing bad happens. Also might be good idea to trade valuables to a trusted friend (EX: TF2 Items, Trading Cards, etc.)
Slood Feb 27 @ 12:52am
Thanks for warning, same happened to me and i was ready :)
Got added by that gentleman and he sent me that link too, here's his profile:
http://steamcommunity.com/id/frijolesytortillas/
Already reported him.
[Junkies] MelveTheUnfcknblvbl Feb 27 @ 12:56am
I got 2 of those today. It always starts with a phrase like "Hey, my friend wants to buy your item can you add him please. > [ phish link]"
A Sneaky NPC Feb 27 @ 1:05am
I've had that twice now. Reported both for scamming straight away.

Thank goodness you still have your items. Not everyone is fortunate, and some people are still ignorant to this scam unfortunately. :(
Make that 3 today. This guy just tried to get me with a phish link.

The same guy slood linked to.
