Now let's compare Saigns and Nighteam server to something stupid.
No matter how stupid it is, it will be BETTER THAN THESE SERVERS

Why is the combo not nerfed?

You ask why the strongest tactic of the weakest class is not nerfed?

You caught three soldiers and a sniper by surprise. The Pyro is supposed to be the close range specialist, let it be good at close range.

Besides, nerfing it would make the pyro almost literally useless.

*yawn* Terrible oblivious players are easy to kill with almost anything if you're right behind them. That's not an excuse for nerfing the means to kill them. I've whipped people to death *in non-Medieval* games; that doesn't mean that the whip is terribly effective.

The Pyro is far from weak. Ever heard of the Phlogistinator? And while yes, the Pyro is meant to be good at close range, you should still be able to react to one.

I have heard of the Phlogistinator.

In fact, it is my main Flamethrower.

That doesn't mean I have a chance against most classes in anything except a sharp corner in a hallway.

I don't know who you were up against that they couldn't react to you when you got your first kill, but in most situations you would have exploded pretty fast.

That wouldn't matter at all except in one of three cases.

- Heavy, which can already kill a Pyro even if he hasn't spun up before the Pyro entered melee range; spin-up time isn't THAt high and point-blank DPS is that high.
- Overhealed 175-health (or a just-left-medic overhealed 150) class.
- Dead Ringer spy.

Only the first is likely, and frankly if a Pyro manages to get up right behind a heavy who isn't even spun-up he might as well be awarded the kill.

I once unleashed the phlog crits on half the enemy team. Know how I killed them? I did what the Pyro was meant to do: ambush.

You have to love how many people want to need the weakest class in the game.
If you are smart, you won't let yourself get ambushed.

Because you are counting a few lucky kills as if it makes a difference. Eat a few rockets in the face or a heavy just mowing you down while you try this tactic and you'll see that you are overrating the importance of the few surprisingly quick kills you get. Anyways you can sting people with even a regular flame thrower if you want.

Pyro is supposed to be dangerous up close, but once at a slight distance, your puff and sting is useless.

Pyro doesnt need the axtinguisher.
It's that simple.
The flamethrowers or shotty/flare have more than enough damage to kill any class bar a fully overhealed heavy when ambushed.
If you can't get kills without the crutch-axe you're just bad.
Nerf it to 125 damage per hit on burning players.

The Axtinguisher absolutely needs to be nerfed. It's a guaranteed instant kill on anything but an enemy Pyro or Heavy (Which takes 2 melees, how hard.) and an absolute death sentence if you're caught indoors. Spies have to get behind targets, Snipers have to aim, and both are squishy with relatively little utility. The Pyro gains the ability to instakill merely by running at someone's face or airblasting them into a wall, and maintains the power and utility of his primary and secondary weapons.

The only half ♥♥♥♥♥ excuses for the Axtinguisher are that "You must be bad." or "The Pyro is too weak!" A Pyro can easily dispatch an unwary or unskilled person with his Flamethrower, secondary, or any melee weapon at all if he's worth his salt, the Axtinguisher merely presents a method of killing ANY players they want with almost zero counterplay. If the Pyro only has one weapon that makes him "good", then the solution would be to buff the Pyro- yet he's still valuable and useful to a resourceful player with his other weapons. People just never learn how to play the "Pyromaniac", and get gud with the "Crit Axeman". Because the ♥♥♥♥ing PYRO is supposed to BURN things, not light them on fire with one hand and swing the Mjolnir at them with the other.

afterburn should be buffed (my suggestion would be a total rework that it works like a reverse overheal). degreaser should have even more extreme afterburn malus, and a new mechanic that it takes a moment of continuous direct burn on an enemy to ignite them (not long enough to really make a difference). everyone happy?

So there's the moment where i get behind on 3 soldiers and a sniper on the BLU rooftop of KOTH_Harvest. All i did was press M1 once, Q/3 then M1 again to insta-kill them.

I killed a bunch of heavies as the scout with the pan. Does that make the scout with a pan ovfer powered?

Oblivious players are easy to kill with any weapon that does damage. I've even killed a heavy with the Fan o War.

Getting puff and sting on decent players is a lot harder than it is on oblivious people who just downloaded the game last week.
