Still Havent Found A Main Class
This literally STRESSES me out when im picking a class. I have no idea what class to stick with. I have 850 hours in tf2 and decent with all classes (except sniper)
Ive pretty much dumbed the choices down between engie heavy and soldier.
I really enjoy engie, but since theres usually already 500 i just cant put myself up to play him.
I love heavy, but people call me a nub and tell me to go play a respectable class. Plus on some maps hes not too useful.
Soldier i like playing as him, and im decent, no problems here, but id just rather play heavy.
Some community input would be nice here.

I like to play a class depending on the situation or my mood. Just play a class that your team is short on, or a class your team needs to win.
If you're good with heavy and enjoy playing that class, then play it. People are going to complain about your class no matter which one you pick. Might as well be the one you're comfy with.

Don't pick a main class, use the class that is needed. Also, if people call you a noob for playing a class that may be needed (such as the Heavy), they're the noobs because you're using the right class for the situation.

If you play for team victory, this.

But I can see the point of having "a main class" nevertheless. What do you actually ENJOY playing the most as? What baffles me the most in the choices you narrowed down is that engi, heavy, soldier are very different in both gameplay mechanics that you need to use as well as the role they play in the game. Perhaps you really don't know yet.
Try to main
soldier,
heavy
spy

one from each catagory
Just play what you're having fun at. Though you could get a second main if you feel that certain class is situational.
Do what I did. Fall into your main completely accidentally and then just suddenly become decent with it.

I like to call my main class my "Maim Class" Because I can do the most damage with it. Find a class you're best at and stick with it.

Find a class you can do damage with while having the most fun doing so.

Don't main a class else you'll be one of those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who goes around with dead ringer thinking they're good at spy.

Kinda what i do, For Payload and KOTH i always go Heavy, Capture the Flag Pyro to help the engies, Attack/Defense either Heavy or Demoman, I plain suck at Spy and Scout so i don't bother with them and theres always too many Snipers
If you say you like playing heavy, THEN PLAY HEAVY. We seriously need more heavies.
First off, maining is perfectly fine. You're not always going to be in the ideal class setup on a pub, but it's a pub, winning doesn't matter at all and what's important is improving.

What you main depends mostly on what you want to do once you're a lot better more than anything, I did the most as sniper a long while back but decided I wanted to play 6s and be good with what most people aren't so I started maining demoman. If you do best as heavy or soldier now that's great, but the question is still what you want to see yourself doing next year or so.

Which class you like now doesn't matter much, picking and switching mains isn't that difficult to do as long as you have some dedication. Who you main determines a lot of what you can do later on though.

Thank you.
Ive been trying demo and enjoy it, and it seems to have a pretty high skill cap. I'll stick with it.
