unacceptable fps
running 120hz monitor with forced lightboost in 2D and im used to atleast 100+ fps in my games
BF3, dota2 and so on
haven't played TF in a long while and it gives me about 35-70 frames in any map aside from 2fort (going 100+ only in tight areas)
thats maxed out, but even if i tuned it down to like 1024x768 with everything off, absolutely trashed textures (config + drivers) it stays the same! there is like no gain at all it even feels like its lakking a bit more
clearly its some optimization fail rather than insufficient hardware. any ideas?

Well, for starters, What graphics card(s) do you have?

If you think 70 FPS is unacceptable, there's something wrong with your priorities

You should be happy I have to play this game at the lowest setting and only get about 30-70 fps ;_; , with normal setting I get 30 fps :c

my build is 4 years old atleast
running HD5770 1Gb with Phenom ll X4 @ 3.0
sure BF3 has alot more players on screen, more detailed models. bigger maps, destruction and it never dropped as low as TF2, but i would probably deal with it and drop the game if it wouldnt run exactly the same in 1080P maxed as with the lowest settings and resolution

My old system with a GTX 460 can pull 70 FPS easy.

Have you tried turning on V-Sync?

70 i'd say is maximum id get in a heated battle, it drops much lower and its unsatisfying, tf2 is a casual game but it does have a room for skillshots and clutch moves, i can easily stomp the pubs barely dying at all but only on maps like 2fort which give me constant 120 frames

lol..
first of all, that GPU is not even close to be the same generation, pulling 70FPS with that card is pretty pathetic
and v-sync would lock my frames at 60, do you even read before posting

If 120 FPS is unacceptable
There really is something wrong with you

You said you had a 120Hz monitor. V-Sync tries to lock the frames to the monitors refresh rate.

i also said it goes up to 100+ in certain maps

this is so annoying tbh

The AMD 5000 seriees cards were released in 2009. The nVidia 400 series cards came out mid-2010. That's nothing when it comes to graphics cards.

I'm an IT engineer for one. And two, Good luck getting help with that attitude.

Video card is weak + tf2 source engine is lousy at cpu scaling with more cores, its 2 cores max and even then i'm not sure it 100% loads two, so it performs lousy on slower/older processors, and most of the time you will be cpu limited, lowering graphics settings won't do much. So yea, older amd processors gonna suffer.
