Free-To-Players
Many of the discussions I have seen about F2Ps are about the F2Ps from USA, Europe, or Australia. I have not seen one about the F2Ps in Asia. And that, is something that many people do not think is important.

First things first. Asia consists of many countries that use different languages and different cultures. That means, when you are trying to speak to one of them in game, they will not understand you. So what does that mean for those players who are striving to win? The F2Ps will mess the game up for them. Not all F2Ps are bad, but most of them are.

Standard F2P Loadout in Asia: Ghostly Gibus, Pyrovision Goggles, Mercenary, Power Up Canteen. So you ask: What does cosmetic items have to do with how the player plays? Well, it has a lot to say. If one takes a long hard look at the Ghostly Gibus, you will realize how ridiculous it looks with the Pyrovision Goggles on (Sorry if I offend anyone). I mean, seriously. This is what goes on in their minds when they wear it: "Ermahgerd free hatz imma wear this so people know how many things i haz". Seriously. I know how they would feel, as I was F2P once. I used to equip as many non stock items as possible, to signify that I had items. But no one really cares, and ultimately, you are the one to suffer from your Shortstop and Boston Basher. Moving on to the Ghostly Gibus. To obtain it only requires ONE domination of someone wearing it. Doesn't take that much effort. Same goes for the Pyrovision Goggles. Wearing the Gibus shows this mentality: "Ooo im just dominated this guy and im wear this meanz im kewlz". Basically, just equiping every single item you have to appear rich, when in reality, there are about so many people with the same amount of stuff as you.

Now on to their gameplay. Most F2Ps in Asia start off in Fullcrit servers and immediately go for Scout or Sniper. Due to the Fullcrit, they probably are able to score kills easily. They realize that they can get kills with Scout/Sniper/Spy so easily, they don't want to waste their time on other classes, and immediately, they make Scout/Sniper/Spy their favorite class. That means, when they play on a normal server, they pick Scout/Sniper/Spy and keep on it. And which is that lonely class sitting in the corner crying? Medic. I'm probably echoing what many people have said, but here comes another point. F2Ps comprise 3/4 of the TF2 population in Asia. When I go on a server, I am probably the only one who takes the time to see how many we have of each class. When I yell at them: Change your class!!! they don't listen because they do not understand English. That's not an insult. Really. Some players come from Vietnam, Thailand, and they don't understand English. That means there is nothing I can do.

For those of you who are from USA, Europe, or Australia, and don't believe what I say, come over to an Asian TF2 server and give it a try. Because it's not easy to capture the point when there are 4 Scouts with Shortstops running straight toward a Sentry Nest.

Thank you for reading my post, and have a great day.

So many language barriers. What a nightmare. :(

Well, I do believe English is considered the world language of trade, or something like that now. As in, English is becoming an expectation world-wide (slowly) to be learned.

Aside from that, I do wish I would actually put in the time to learn Japanese. I don't care what anyone says, knowing Japanese is a WONDERFUL talent in the gaming world, seeing as a lot of wonderful series never make it out of Japan, and sometimes only portions of wonderful series.

Plus, translating is a viable job...

One question, though. Why do you say they tend to start on crit-only servers? And more importantly, why WOULD they start on crit only servers? Yeah, I get they don't know the game quite yet, but I'm perplexed as to why you would skip the normal game and go straight to irregular rules.

Do you think everyone in Europe speaks english? That we don't have the same problem?

You can easily have portuguese, spanish, french, italian and german speakers playing on the same match.

This is very true. They are more annoying when they are on the mic as 1. You cant understand them 2. They have a sqealy voice
I see a fellow Doctor on this thread. Anyway, I think the Basher and Shortstop could pair well together on some ocassions, so there is nothing really bad about that.

Yeah, thats true. Its sad, considering they dont even need to learn English, sonce China, and other Asian countries soon or later take the whole Europe, or at least it looks like it will happen. However, of I can learn English (and my language is one of those unnesessarly hard and complicated, i believe they can too...

Sorry, I was using Europe as a general example. About the language barriers. We would take the time to translate, if the players actually would speak to us in the first place. Many people wouldn't feel like learning English for the sake of a video game, so most of them just play and play and don't care about the result of the match.

Moving on to Fullcrit servers. In Asia, there are actually quite a few fullcrit servers that run on cp_orange. Overtime is basically forever, and it's just a violent bloodbath. I don't mean that they instantly start up Fullcrit servers. They try normal servers, but they don't actually remember the server they went to. So they pick random servers until they come across the Fullcrit server, where they realize "oh hey, I am doing so good in this server" and they stay on it.
