I have a question about console...
I see a bunch of people using console commands in tf2, and I was wondering if:

1) Can someone tell me what is console?
2) How do I use it?
3) Anything a nub like me should/would be good to know if I wanted to use it.

Thanks in advance.

It is basically allows you to use commands that can set graphical settings, directly connect to server IP, etc. It can also let you check for errors, set key binds, and other stuff.

You can press the tilde key on your keyboard to activate it. I think you have to enable it in settings though.

My best advice is to refer to the official tf2 wiki for console commands that may be of use.

mat_phong 0 is my favorite console command. It removes the shinyness from the game and makes it look like beta. Some people say it also increases frame rate but I wouldn't know since mine never drop below 60.

Do not type 'unbindall' in the console. It unbinds your keys (suprise, suprise).
Also, if you type +forward, you always walk forward. It's cool.

If you type +attack you don't even need to do anything.

It also allows for some more advanced binding of keys, for example:
bind p "explode"
Typing that into the console will make it so whenever you press the "P" key, you suicide in an explosion. On it's own it can be useful, but there are even more crazy and advanced bindings you can get into beyond that, such as binds to toggle scripts.

Weird, I bound my p key to explode the other day. And now you bring it up.

I bound Mouse 3 to build and destroy mini-sentries for revenge crits. It's quite useful; I've killed many people doing that.
