Ratio of Feminine to Masculine Tf2 players
My estimation is somewhere around 1:6
1 being girls, and 6 being guys. The percent equivalent is somewhere around 16.6 recurring (16.7%)

Any idears?

I'd say a little less. Maybe 1:10. It's probably even less than that. I'm not saying girls don't play, I just don't encounter them often.

*a wild female appears*
P.S. to contribute to the topic... maybe 25% are female, idk.

I only know of 5-7 players that were girls throughout my 250+ hours of TF2. (Note that I only recognize they were female due to hearing their voices on mics.)

If your only clues about the gender identity of a player are voice on the microphone and explicitly femenine usernames and icons, perhaps you've played with more women than you think. Maybe it just doesn't occur to you that those three Heavies punching each other in a corner of respawn could be women.
At least in the competitive teams I've seen ~5 girls from ~60 people (and that's probably on the lower end, could be up to 100 even). So that'd be about 8.333%.

On pubs I'd have no clue whatsoever though. As said above you can't really tell on pubs without explicitly saying it on mic.

I can't believe it's 2014 and people still make that joke.

I also can't believe there are people out there who are incapable of stopping themselves from using a stale joke, even when it's been used in a post immediately before them.

Do little kids count? Because I'm sometimes unable to tell whether they're girls or boys.

The ratio is much higher than that, but most female players dont reveal themselves as females. If you wonder why its because most tf2 are really immature. Ive seen many girls get blatanly harrassed because thats what happens when a girl gamer arrives. While playing tf2 ive met literallydozens of girls and I didnt realize they were girls until becoming friends with them. Its really not safe to say "Im a girl" when playing. At least usually. Sometimes nobody cares (which honestly, nobody should care)

Whenever I say I'm a girl on tf2 all the immature guys are all like "cool, now have sex with me" or "be my girlfriend" -_-
0scarMike Feb 10, 2014 @ 12:27pm
on forums it's pretty obvious that I'm female... you just have to check my profile.
but in the game? never use my mic or go around telling everybody I'm a girl. I know many guys would make kitchen jokes or whatever.
