Predictions of Sniper's personality/backstory???
So with the upcoming comic, it seems we will be spending some time with the Sniper this time around as Miss Pauling and the others have just arrived at Australia at the end of the last issue. To me it's unfair that he's one of the characters that Valve has not developed much in the comics. At least until the new chapter comes out. I've always been interested in his character. Ever since watching Meet The Sniper, for me I've seen him as the most relatable of the mercs. A grown man who has attachment issues with his parents, who enjoys being by himself for prolonged periods of time, living in a van with little to no social contact whatsover. I'm interested to see how introverted his personality is. How he interacts with the other mercs. What his chemistry with them plays out. Or if he simply avoids talking to any of them, which may be why he hasn't talked much compared to the others. He could be a man who values his privacy heavily, and enjoys living a simple lifestyle (hence the van). So far the writers have not given him any scene that stands out..

We know Medic and Engie are close science buddies. We know Scout and Spy have an extemely bi-polar Father-Son type of relationship. Demo as crazy as he seems finds Soldier's insanity as aggravating. Heavy fights to ensure that his sisters and mother lead comfortable lives. Pyro views the world as a sugar-coated fantasy land. Engie's grandfather created Blutarch and Redmond's life extender machines. So far we know the other characters well enough except for Sniper. Even Saxton Hale, who isn't even one of the main protagonists, has had more development than Sniper.

There also seems to be alot of interesting backstory behind his character, as we never have gotten an explanation for why he seems to be one of the few Aussies who has had no contact with Australium whatsoever. It's possible he doesn't relate to the other Australians and views their lifestyles as incompatible with his. What do you think of the Sniper and how he will be portrayed in future comics/movies???

Yes we need more of Sniper. One of the biggest dissapointments is that he didn't get a single voice line in Expiration Date.
Thank you for agreeing with me. And it's true. Sniper didn't say anything at all in Experation Date.
Finally some one who doesnt act like an imbred 12 year old who thinks doge memes are funny. Apart from that, I agree, the Soldier and the Scout take way to much 'lime light' from the other characters like the Engineer, Heavy and the Medic.

Holy Necro!

Anyways, I agree that his personality wasn't developed much...

From what we know, it might be very possible there isn't much to say about him at all. That his silence and lack of personality development speak for itself - He's too much of an introvert for anyone to know.
Yeah, maybe the writers intended it to be that way. But there is evidence of a more open character beneath that silence. I think him and Spy would probably be polar opposites in terms of class, wealth (Spy lives lavishly while Sniper lives simplistically) but very similar to one another in terms of how serious they are about their focus.

I guess it could be that way. We'll see. Comic is on it's way, even in Valve Time.
I've been curious about the Sniper for a very long time, honestly. I wanna know what he does in his free time and what he likes. Hell, they even gave Heavy a name, finally. All the funny is cool, but back story is important too. They started it, and now they have to finish it.
Really agree, Sniper has the most life like personality, yet doesn't get developed on much.
In the latest valve movie, sniper had no lines. People theorized that VALVe wants to make Sniper a secretive character. He most likely grew up as an (warning mediocre) orphan trying to get revenge or something and keeps his life pretty personal. And he has ego problems so he pees in :jarate:s
More sniper more medic never enough of the two !
