how do you stop the game from locking up all the time~?
this is the third damn topic i've made about this and not once has anyone provided a solution or even attempted to present a theory.

i don't know whats going on, my rig is more than powerful enough for this game not to freeze up on me.. christ it plays all the benchmarks like it's child's play, http://pcpartpicker.com/p/t3wsJx

my internet is just as good. http://www.speedtest.net/result/3572019815.png
i never have latency or rubberbanding in 90% of the games i play.

but with this game, every now and then the game will freeze on me for 2-3 seconds then teleport to where everything should be it's like i'm experiencing the freeze frame of everybody else's death, and more often than not i die inbetween those 2-3 seconds..

what's going on? this is the only game i've played that's done this to me.

settings as optimised by GeForce Experience: before the settings were much lower, then i did a clean update on my drivers after making this thread and used experience to optimise but still i freeze. with these settings there is neither an improvement or decline in quality, i still lock up and die because i cant do anything.

Anti aliasing - 8XMSAA
display mode - full screen
filtering mode - antisotropic 16x
high dynamic range - full
model detail - high
motion blur - enabled
resolution - 1920x180p
shader and shadow detail - high
texture detail- very high
water detail - reflect all

i never play in servers that aren't 24, i also never join a server above 60Ms

i dont have anything that shows my framerate before or during the freezing. what happens is ill teleport a few feet behind me then freeze for 2.3 seconds, then teleport WAY ahead of me as if i kept pressing W, i usally run into a wall or die by someone when the game goes back to normal.

nothing else is running but my game (video was still processing when i linked it so it may or may not work yet when you click, give it itme)

for ♥♥♥♥ sakes! i even provide a video and you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ don't even leave so much as an "i don't know"

ok, just let another thread asking for help die because it's not some negative ♥♥♥♥ storm about the congo or how the comp ♥♥♥♥♥es are crying about slight changes to demo..

goood job Tf2 community, you've done the game proud.

Try to lower the settings, I have lagging problems too, I just turn down the stuff.
The shader settings, turn them to very low, I can hardly run tf2 with them on high
Texture detail too

thanks. ill try that.

Just put all on the lowest setting for now, the love and war update is giving many problems to others too, like me

it didn't change anything.. and i've been having these teleporting problems since before the update.

If it's not the update, and it's not your graphics settings... how many programs do you run at a time on average? Also, have you checked your cooling?

Is the problem frame-rate or latency related? Get a frame-rate monitor in a prominent location, get the game's netgraph up, and tell us if the framerate dips when you experience a stall; or if the netgraph shows dropped packets; or both.

i always close anything extra running before i play any games. i also have a little gadget that monitors my CPU and RAM useage that displays at any given time, in game neither of the monitos go above 25%. i have a program called HWNonitor that checks the heat on all of my everything but i haven't checked it while i play.

the only thing ihave that would show my framerate during gameplay is FRAPS but that bogs down the computer so i don't use it unless i want to play at mid-low settings for every other game i play. the settings, even at the lowest will cause TF2 to lock up like in the video so i don't know what's causing the problem.

Thanks M8

i said it before, im going to bump this thread every time its about to die until a solution to the problem is presented.

i've spent too much money on MvM to abandon it because of something that is probably an in game problem.

Without knowing if the computer's resources are bottle-necking and thus causing the game to pause; or if the network is dropping / delaying packets and thus starving the game of worldstate data, there's no way to diagnose the problem.

Use an online checker to see if your ISP is packet-shaping you; make sure TF is set in your virus checker's exclusion list; play offline with bots for a bit and see if it chokes. Run a benchmarking program and see if that logs stutters.

And bumping the thread's a bad idea; it's against forum rules and will get you banned.

i don't even know where or how to do all of those... i'm a casual gamer, not someone with a lot of computer experience.

get banned becase i bump instead of creating multiple threads because it always dies without any help? you can't be seirous.

Have you tried defragmentating your computer?

Look it up if you don't know what some of those things are.
I am not computer savvy myself, but pretty much do what ace said.
I don't know what packet-shaping is at the moment, but a benchmarking program pretty much goes along the lines as a thing that tells you how suited your computer is for certain tasks, primarily games.
Using the virus checker exclusion list is to check to make sure your computer isn't seeing TF2 as a virus, which will try to hinder TF2 if it sees it as such.
