Why These Are The Wrong Weapons To Nerf...
The three weapons nerfed durring this update are the Minigun, Sticky Launcher, and the Axtinguisher. These are 3 weapons that have remained the same, for the most part, since the first few years of TF2. These are all weapons that are used VERY often in competitive play. I have NEVER heard anyone complain about any of these weapons being over powered or unfair in any way. So why change something that has worked so well for the past 6 years? It doesn't make any sense. There are so many other weapons that could use this kind of treatment. The Backburner, The Force-A-Nature, The Sydney Sleeper. The weapons that they chose were probably some of the worst they could have chosen. So if Valve really pays attention to the community, like they say they've done, then they will realize that this was a poor call to make. The creators of TF2 have done very well when it comes to listening to the community, so hopefully this will be reversed sooner than later.

Oh look, a person who cannot learn to use REAL weapons.

Are you being serious right now? Really? Did you read a SINGLE part of this. Three of the most used weapons in competitive play are not "REAL weapons"? This may be the most ignorant thing I have heard all day.

Look, I did read it, but you're getting mad over OP weapons that had to be nerfed to balance the game. The same thing happend to the Soda Popper, I used it all the time and it was op. In the end it got nerfed. Now I have gotten used to using the stock weapons. By REAL I mean weapons that are not cheap or OP.

You must live under a rock man, aside from the Minigun which I don't think has ever been regarded as broken (except Tomislav's initial release) Axtinguisher and StickyLauncher were likely the two most controversial weapons in the entire game. Valve refered to Sticky Bombs as "WinBombs" they were so powerful.

The Axtinguisher adjustment seems fine (though maybe a slight boost in damage for those minicrits?) and the Launcher adjustment might be a tad too severe in the sense that 2 seconds is a long time (I imagine 1 - 1.5 seconds might have been better) but these are all steps in the right direction. Demoman can't Airburst Spam to win anymore. Pyro's cant mindlessly run around/airblast a burned enemy and smack him with the Axtinguisher for an instantkill.

I hope they further tweak the Sticky Launcher in the sense that maybe reduce that 2 second ramp up time a hair, but otherwise everything else is fine and I'm hoping they don't reverse the changes.

Implying that TF2 is all about competetive.

Plus there were discussion post about pyro being OP from the Degreaser and Axe combo. On a funny note, the demo was nerfed because people complained how easily you could stickyspam and rank a ton of kills. One guy even wanted the demo removed from the game all together.

These weapons have been in the game sinse year one. There are many ways to counter them. They reward players who play smart and use good strategy. They punish players who make the mistake of letting these weapons kill them. They have been the same for about 6 years.

Now, the statment about the Soda Popper being "OP" is very false. I would have put it as one of the most useless weapons before it was changed. It was rare to ever have the mini crits be activated at a useful time. It was not nerfed. It was just altered.

Personally, I didn't think there was anything wrong with the minigun. I was refering to the Stickybomb launcher and Axe.

I was able to kill heavies in seconds with the soda popper, even take out a whole team.

It wasn't that badly OP, but it was really good, yeah. But compare it to the sticky nerf.

Mini crits from time to time, removed for 5 air jumps from time to time. Sure, you lose the cool damage boost, but you got something in exchange for it.
In open field, this makes you virtually invincible to some weapons.

The sticky launcher however, got a -50% damage penalty (which is INCREDIBLE MUCH) for 2 seconds after each shot and got nothing in exchange.

So you can't quite compare that.

Sticky spam is easily countered with breaking the stickies by shooting them or airblast. Pyros using the Degreaser are somewhat easy to counter just by shooting them enough times. Pyros do not have much health.

And people keep forgetting that a kritz medic and sticky spam demo could demolish entire teams.
Kritz minigun requires aim and you don't have AoE bullets.
Kritz rocket launcher cannot be spammed like sticky bombs, and are more easily blasted.
Kritz flame requires very close approach, so rarely made.

And these weapons were no where near as insane as the Tide Turner that we got this update. And I wouldn't even call that op, just very good.
Fanoffi Jun 20 @ 2:49am
There's a balance man. If these weapons are some of the "MOST USED WEAPONS" then its pretty ♥♥♥♥ing clear that they've got some advantage over their alternatives. Nobody gives a ♥♥♥♥ about them being the most used, only the metaplayers, who cant do nothing but abuse every chance they got to get a kill, do.

Hell, remember the short circuit? NOBODY USED IT because it had a huge payoff for its use. Then, Valve decided to buff it. Guess what happened? It was so OP that EVERYONE used it. Well, if it was used and loved so much by the community, then WHY NERF IT?
Pyro is an ambush class, he isnt supposed to go straight up and wreck everything. He's supposed to catch people off-guard and finish them off. Puff n' Sting Pyros are the worst, considering how much they're part of the "metagame".

Besides, it isnt a big nerf, so stop crying and find an alternative instead of just copying everybody else's playstyle. I'd recommend the Homewrecker/Maul as they're good for defending/attacking a sentry nest. Also has a fairly high damage output and a high critchance.

So a strategy is why it was nerfed? That is no reason to nerf a wapon.
