Did I scam?
So, I made a trade post for buying a sharp dresser (still buying!). Should still be there.

Anyways, that's not the point. This guy gives me a random trade. That annoys me a bit, but this is what he gave. Just for two scrap.

I'm hoping he just thought they were really ugly or he just really needed two scrap (?).

Those are uncraftable halloween-restricted hats. They're in so little demand that they're probably not worth the scrap. If anyone here got scammed it would've been you, though scamming and sharking are different.

It's easy to shark is sharked someone out of a 3 bud unusual by saying I am giving him a Bargain with 2 keys. They are usually worth 1.5 keys. S I made a huge profit that day :D

That actually is scamming. Lying about values is scamming, not mentioning values and having the other person believe that it is a fair trade by their own knowledge is sharking.

I don't care. It's harder to come by then normal scrap. I'm not a trader looking for profits, just buying things I need. I'd say I make 4 weapons in 3 days. You don't get this everyday. Either way, I'm happy with the deal.

It is sharing. There isn't a set price for item. People can sell their items for however amount they want.

Scam (in tf2 terms): trading items either without consent or without agreement to the terms of the trade. In this case, the terms of the trade is the values of the items by community perception. By saying you are willing to give 2 keys for something worth 1.5 is a scam because the agreement specifically requires the unusual being worth around the 1.5 keys mark by the general community's agreement.

There is no set price for items, that is true, but what you told him was what the community valued it as. Likewise, the other person only accepted the trade under the belief that you were not lying and that the generally accepted value from the community for his item was less than what you were offering.

If you want others' opinions, steamrep defines a scammer as "anyone that uses deception, thievery, lies, or anything that is underhanded to take advantage of or steal from another trader."

Ok fine. The truth is, that never happened :D I just wanted to see how other people react :)

Prices are all messed up on backpack. Items have the value you give them really.

To be completely honest, if you get "scammed" in a bad trade, it's your fault. You not knowing the value is your own fault, and if you're taken advantage of, that's also your own fault.
