Yeah, but I think the debuff of taking forever to repair/upgrade your flamethrower would be too much of a downside.

I meant having the secondary effect being given to back it. in favor of just removing for another.

Phlog change:

-10% damage.
Airblast cannot extinguish teammates.
Airblasting creates an electrical field infront of you that destroys all projectiles near it.
Each projectile destroyed gives you 3 seconds of minicrits (Stacks).
Airblast costs 5 ammo per second to use.

Same basic idea, less w+m1. More supporty than ever before, but still a powerful offensive tool.

That isn't a bad idea, but what do you mean by "Airblast costs 5 ammo per second to use."?

"this, I like this new weapon" -Heavy. But really that sounds like one of the most balanced weapons that would still be usable. But as with every weapon the fanboy phlogs would ♥♥♥♥♥ and whine about how their "skill" required weapon got changed.

So instead of w+m1, w+m2.

People need to realize that -% damage on Flamethrowers is effectively redundant.

Its the same reason the Degreaser is so ridiculously overpowered compared to the other Flamethrower choices for general PvP play. I am not talking about the Phlog's superiority in MvM.

-10% damage on a Particle-based weapon system, like the Flamethrower, is basically nothing. You're talking about reducing the damage PER PARTICLE from about 5 down to 4. When the weapon sprays out a constant stream of the stuff, that damage reduction is effectively negligible. Then you factor in the Degreaser's advantage of the faster weapon swap, meaning it effectively has bonuses over the Stock with no downside. The afterburn reduction is similarly negligible since there are so many ways to eliminate afterburn (Jarate, etc).

Flamethrowers need a penalty attribute that is not -% damage. No airblast is one such example.
