Trouble with the opposite classes
The title may be a little misleading. i have been commenting on posts about classes that people suck as. Spies, demoknights, spies, medics, snipers, pyros, spies, and scouts (did i mention spies). I have the opposite problem with heavies and soldiers. their low speed sets me back alot, even with their increased attack. When i do play i usually get sniped, flambayed by pyros (extra crispy), meleed by scouts (suprisingly), and worst stabbed by spies, especially as a heavy. Any tips, weapon loadouts, HATS!!!! will help. PLEASE NO LINKS TO GUIDES AND WIKIS, I WANNA HEAR THEM FROM THE HEAVY/SOLDIER EXPERTS THEMSELVES!!!
Edit: i do not have trouble with rocket jumping nor ammo as a soldier and heavy, the main problem is getting close enough to players without dying to be an effective team player.
2nd edit: thank you so much for your advice guys, i shall try playing as soldier and heavy until thursday when the drop rate resets. hopefully i will get better. please keep commenting any other tips, especially for the heavy

Soldier is a ranged class, so you should be able to get close enough to players without dying to be effective. I mean, if you have no problem with rocket jumping, you can move out fast and get the high ground. Maybe you need to improve your aim if you think you can't get close enough to enemies.

If you can see them from across the map and there's no obstacles in your way, you're close enough to take them out with well timed rockets. So I'd say to just work on your aim and you'll start to do better. Don't play heavy, so I can't really help you out too much there.

If you enjoy rocket jumping and you can rely on your launcher by itself, equip the gunboats for extra mobility as soldier. Even if an enemy sees you coming, a well timed rocket jump towards them (with some strafing ofc) can get you there in front of them in no time. So then you'll be close enough to them without dying, eh? :)
Aim for the feet to knock them up, it immobilizes them alot and opens them up for more rockets, if you run out of ammo switch to shotgun (assuming you have one) and shoot, or melee if its a sure kill.

For loadout i use:
Primary: Liberty Launcher. I personally like it because of fast projectile speed.
Secondary: Reserve Shooter. Good for finishing off enemies who you bounced up with rockets.
Melee: Half Zalatoichi. Personal favorite for finishing off enemies and restoring to full health.

wow thanks guys, but any advice for heavy. the only time i really use him is on MvM. But on multiplayer i dont really use him. I do use soldier or am using him trying him out again, but i keep getting killed by snipers, anyway to counter them?
soldier: rocket jump like a BAWS shoot while above enemy and when hitting the ground to gain a succesful kill and get places fast, then rj to a health pack

heavy: start spinning your barrel while almost turning a corner. guerilla style is a really good method for playing heavy

what is this guerilla style you speak of? run and gun or gun and retreat?
As Soldier, it should be fairly easy to get up close to deal a lot of damage, as the Soldier is one of the most mobile classes in the game with a rocket jump. Even without getting close, rocket damage drop off isn't too bad and you can still deal a lot of damage from medium range. Just bounce Scouts around with your rockets. A Pyro shouldn't be too bad. You can bounce them around with splash damage take care not to shoot directly at them), switch to Shotgun, or simply jump away. You can also rocket jump and bomb your enemies for a surprise factor (and it's hard to defend against too).
As a Heavy, Spies and Snipers are your worst enemies. Try to get in the habit or turning around every once in a while and always cast your ears out for the sound of screams from backstabs. You can also try to hang around a Pyro if you're worried. To deal with Snipers, stay aware of where the headshots are coming from. Try to stay out of the open and un-exposed, or attempt to flank or come out of somewhere unexpected so the Sniper doesn't notice you with their tunnel vision. If you do have to go out in the open, it's always safer with a Medic, and try to get to somewhere else with the GRU (hopping can help). The Heavy is the best in close quarters, so try to stay close to your enemies.

learn the basic gameplay?
As a sniper, getting spamed by rockets is one of the most frustrating things that can happen. So, do that. Even if you're not hitting them. If they're unaware of you, rocket jump to them (preferably from an angle so they can't see you coming) and get rid of them with a volley of rockets. If you constantly keep the pressure on them, they'll most likely rage and change class ^^

Wish I could give advice on heavy, but I unfortunatly don't play MvM so I'm kind of in the dark myself. Sorry!

thanks and no i was just mentioning that the only time i play heavy is on MvM. im still asking on the multiplayer not the co op. but thanks once again
Im not an expert, but heavy is a pretty easy class so Ill share what I have learned. As heavy you should never stop moving. All too often people stand still while unloading there minigun into a scout or whatever, and you are much more likely to get sniped. Pub snipers are usually so bad that even if you are just strafing a tiny bit, they will miss or at least only bodyshot you. As for slow movement, the gloves of running urgently are a good way to move around friendly territory quickly. If spin up time is a problem, you can use the tomislav for its faster spin-up, everyone says it sucks but unless you a re in a 1:1 heavy confrontation you wont be at a disadvantage. Also, jump around corners while spinning up your minigun so you dont lose momentum. Turn around a lot so spies are wary, theyll never beat you in a face to face confrontation. When you are in said confrontation, use your shotgun unless your minigun is already spun up. Aside from that, just keep your crosshair on your opponents central body mass and you should get plenty of kills. :balloonicorn:

The Tomislav only spins up less than a tenth of a second, so I don't think you would want to use a Tomislav solely on spin-up time.

The tomislav is also silent, so use it in situations where you really want to be sneaky. That said, I think the stock minigun is better, people are oblivious and rarely listening anyway.

The best thing as a heavy is to use the environment to get in the enemies face. Like a pyro, you too do your best damage in mele range. And when it comes to the heavy, that's a whopping 500 damage in a second!

Good heavies will always be observant. They look up, down, around, and back again. You want to keep a sharp eye on both enemy locations and teammate locations.

Basic class matchups all revolve the same mechanics. Staying at short range but juuust out of mele range and gunning em down with the retical trained at their exact center. Like shotguns, the minigun "particles" need to hit to do damage! More particles, more damage!

Pyro: Tracking is key, they can, and WILL ambush you, keep a close eye for ambush locations. Routs less traveled and areas where they can drop in, like staircases or vents.

Spy: Awareness is the rule here. Keeping an eye on your teammates and their behavior. Most spies use Sniper, Pyro, and Engy disguises. Keep a closer eye on those, but be aware that better spies will try to avoid being spotted. Walk through teammates, Shoot any teammates that act funny. You have plenty of ammo, and on Payload offence, practically infinite ammo! use it!

Scout: Tracking, again. Most will jump over you and eratically straif you. Using Natasha will help keep them locked down, but its damage is weaker so enemy heavies, and high damage classes like Soliders and Demomen, will have a much easier time killing you. The Huo Long Heater is also a clutch choice for annoying Scouts. However good scouts can avoid the fire and still kill you, so you NEED to practice keeping that aim target dead center to their chests.

Sniper: Cover, cover, cover, and oh. COVER! Abuse it, learn it, love it! Tons of heavies I see try to shoot at snipers to throw their aim off. This does throw it off, however, not enough to care if the sniper is decent. He'll just kill you. You NEED to move eratically and get out of his kill zone! Duck, dip, dive for walls, pillars, anything to hide from him. He is a hard counter to you, even moreso then the spy. You will not win at a distance, if you can ambush him or avoid him, do so! Otherwise, pray your teammates can off him or he's a poor shot on a dancing heavy.

The miniguns are pretty varied. But the stock minigun reigns supreme. It may be loud but usually by the time people hear your spin up their dead if you do it right. The Tomislov, Natascha, and Hu Long heater are also great to use. Tomi does around 475 DPS, still enough to kill anyone in under a second but you will lose out to heavies unless you get the drop on them (which you should). Hu long and natasha excell at killing fast classes but in exchange for heavy ammo use and loss of damage respectivly. In the end the stock is the best but they're all about the same UNLESS you're defending, in wich case if you're skilled at knowing when to retreat and positioning, the Brass Beast is a god! However the stock can work just as well as it's much easier to use!

All in all, heavy really is just the core skills of the game. Aside from jumping around corners and reving in mid air to keep your momentum. There isn't much to heavy. Just remember, track well, get close, and be observant. Good luck sir!

P.S. Can't say much on solider as I never really played him in competitive level environments.

Yeah, that's the only real upside I consider when looking at the Tomislav. That <0.1 second of spin-up time is really unnoticeable, but silent spin can be useful for careful people when you're ambushing them (at which point, the lowered DPS isn't as bad).
