holy crap the Airstrike is a weak as balls weapon!!
honestly i feel like it's the weakest soldier weapon in the game.

ok so it can hold 8 rockets if you kill enough people, but first you need to be cabable of killing those people who would normally be easy pickings with any other launcher, and even if by some magic lucky charm you get the eight. it takes eight direct shots just to take a heavy down to half health..

30/70 reward to effort ratio

I never managed to actually kill someone with it. I always got airshot by someone very skilled. Maybe I just got unlucky.

The weirdest part is, that I got the achievement for having maximum clip size with it for some reason. I don't remember actually seeing it pop up within the game either.

Simple strategy when 2forting with the airstrike: Play defensively. Never leave your base, kill all who intrude. When you have enough kills + enough rockets, then you go on the offensive. This strategy works well with shieldless demomen wielding the eyelander too.

You can out damage heavies in MvM with this thing; I think it is fine.

Step three: Upgrade Clip size and Fire rate.
Step five: Jump.
Step six: Get kritz'd.

Airstrike is weak if you aren't skilled in assessing if you can make it out of an engagement alive. Once you can do that it's pretty dumb how good it is. It's a weapon that (over)rewards gamesense.

That aside, it's perfectly fine in PvP. Book it with the BASE or Gunboats, and the kills will come flowing in (Assuming you're not busy trying to sniper halfway across the map with it)

Lol, nice you didn't read what I posted. I said in MVM, as an airstrike soldier, you can easily out damage your Heavy.

I feel like the Airstrike is hard to get going, but after an extra rocket or two, it becomes nasty. It can kill people pretty quick, and if you can get direct hits on people it will dispose of them quickly. After getting a sizeable amount of rockets you can kill up to 3 people in a volley.

I'd honestly be all for a sort of sort of 'special' damage reduction, based on how many rockets you currently have.

Think of it like this:

At three rockets, you have no damage reduction on your rockets.
At four rockets, you have a 5% damage reduction.
At five rockets, you have a 10% reduction
At 6 rockets, a 15% reduction.

And so on until you get to 8 rockets, which is a 25% damage reduction.

As an Air Strike and BASE user myself, it'd help Air Strike soldiers get the first few kills they need to get moving, but not make them totally overpowered by the time they get 8 rockets (Imagine 8 regular damage rockets flying toward your face. It'd hurt.).
