Yes, but you can airblast only 4 times, while with stock you can airblast 10 times, and with Degreaser you can airblast 8 times.

Backburner has crits only from behind, and the hitboxes can sometimes be wonky. You can charge the Phlogistinator from afar with something like a Scorch Shot, and then, when the enemy begins pushing, you can ambush them with 100% crits from all directions.

Four airblasts is better than no airblasts. And using a combat-oriented flame-thrower means you should be able to sustain your airblasting with the ammo packs from your kills. If that's too hard, stick to Degreaser.

Situational crits are also better than crits that require charging up for 30 seconds ahead of time.

Because whats the point in burning people without airblasting them into a sentry?

phlog is trash. the taunt makes you vulnerable because enemies have enough time to prepare a backlash. and even the taunting noise is warning others so they start look around and avoiding corners. not to mention the missing airblast.
backburner is ok. is the pyro is good at ambushing he can do quite heavy damage. the 4 times airblast can save his life

Phlog is literally the worst flamethrower in every single way. It's one useful thing, healing, was removed, so now it just does nothing.

If you die to it you should be ashamed.
