3 spy weapon ideas
Warning, this will be long
===================================================================
The Pernicious Poisoner
Level [0-100] Hypodermic Needle
Spy Melee Weapon

Looks: largeish hypodermic needle filled with greenish-clear liquid
held the same way as knife

PROS:
Poison damage: Similar to fire damage. Upon hit, does normal damage plus 2-3 damage per second until victim has collected enough health (medikits, medics, dispensers) to restore themselves to FULL healh.
Immune to other spies' poison
only removes disguise after 3 backstabs

CONS:
-60% damage
-20% health
===================================================================
The Disgiused Duplicate
Level [1-100] Hologram Watch
Spy cloak watch

Looks: silver watch with holographic display

PROS:
When cloaked, a holographic duplicate of you will appear and move foward until killed. Duplicate has 60 health. When killed, shows kill as if you were dead (like dead ringer) and has ragdoll after it is killed

CONS:
-50% Cloak regenaration
Cloak drains 25% faster when hologram is in use
===================================================================
The Incognito Impaler
Level [1-100] hidden spike trap
Spy weapon (replaces sapper)

Looks: In inventory: flat metal plate with spikes attached. In game: flat metal plate (about .5 inches tall) that blends in with suroundings, but is still visible, when triggered has 6 inch spikes sticking out of the top.

PROS:
does 150 damage to whoever triggers/steps on it
difficult to see if not observant

CONS:
one use per trap: needs to refill ammo before another can be placed
cannot place trap until the previous one is triggered
-20% movement speed
obviously, no sapper
===================================================================
Well thats all i have for now. Please make suggestions (too overpowered, too underpowered). Everything helps! Thanks for reading!

CONS:
-65% damage
No instakill on backstab
-20% health

I dont get why you wouldn't want instakills on backstabs.

I like the idea, but it would be way too obvious after a while.

So what we have here are:
1. A weapon that no one would pick over the other Spy Knives
2. A watch that no one would pick over the other spy watches because of how impractical it would be
3. A weapon that disables about one of the most important roles as spy in order to lay a useless trap

I have to agree with Lethbridge here. Kinda useless. Interesting, but useless. Xcept for trolling, spawn killing, and spy rush

I got a notification from this thread that didn't have a new comment, so I thought someone bumped this by posting a comment and deleting it.

The 1st and 3rd ones, sure, but the 2nd one is kind of bad.

Perhaps the needle shouldn't remove disguise, or remove disguise after 3 or 4 backstabs.

the trap is the only practical one i see, but losing your sapper is a huge tradeoff for just 100 damage, which wouldnt even kill a scout.

good idea! ill add that

All of these ideas need to be adjusted.

First off, the needle is too underpowered. Having a spy melee weapon that cannot backstab is out of the question. Backstabbing is the only reason the spy can take out his priority targets:
With the needle, the spy cannot kill a medic due to their regeneration
With the needle, the spy cannot kill a heavy because they usually have a pocket medic and their health is to high for it to take a full effect
With the needle, a spy cannot kill an engineer, because they commonly have a dispenser and sentry, which can keep them alive and kill you.

A same type of deal would happen with the disguised duplicate. The main reason is the fact that the duplicate would be easy to recognize. The whole point of a cloak is so people can't see through you disguise and recognize you. A spy can easily be discovered by his eyes (a disguised spy always has eyes open wide). The hologram would be discovered and the enemy would know there is a spy on the lose.

Lastly, a similar problem is with the incongnito impaler. Without a Sapper a spy cannot disable or destroy a sentry, which is one of the spy's jobs. A spy cannot destroy a sentry with his revolver, and knifing it is out of the question.

Please note the fact that I'm just trying to improve your ideas to make sure they wouldn't be underpowered.

thanks for the ideas

I had an idea for a new sapper for the Spy. I call it The Haywire.

The Haywire sapper disables the building as usual but deals no damage. Instead, if it is left on the building long enough, it will cause the building to switch sides and adds the little taped on light that the mini-sentry has (or just change the color of the light on a mini-sentry). Teleporter polarity is reversed (entrance becomes exit and vice versa). When a building is haywired, it loses its ties with its Engineer and is not bound to any specific player. All friendly Engineers can move and repair haywired buildings. Haywired buildings can be haywired again, switching teams again.

I also have an idea for a new disguide kit. I call it The Rogue's Ruse.

It functions exactly like the standard disguise kit, but when you attack with your knife, as long as you don't dmage anyone with it, you will not lose your disguise and you will look like you're swinging your weapon around while disguised. The downside is that there would be a short duration you'd have to wait before you could disguise again.

And last but not least, how about a new knife? I call it Sweeny's Shave.

This 'knife' is actually a barber's shaver that performs facestabs (slits throat) instead of backstabs. Idea and design inspired by the movie Sweeny Todd.

What do you think? I know the knife might be a bit overpowered, but what the hey?
