I have an DK2 and I run linux as my primary desktop. Currently with Ubuntu 16.04 .

I'd sure like to help to bring VR to linux.

I have a DK2 and a powerful Macbook. I can easily run VR games on it :)
If you need any Mac VR testers, send a PM/Friend Request

I use Linux exclusively and have the Vive. I'm also the owner/webmaster of vronlinux.com. I would test for you, but OpenVR for Linux is still very much a work-in-progress. Valve hasn't officially announced/released Linux support, and what's available via the Steam client and at GitHub is basically broken. Oculus initially supported the DKs on Linux starting version 0.2.3 of their SDK, but Vive never had any drivers. People are working on it though, including the OpenHMD folks and Valve (24 May: "Still working on it. Still not ready yet. Unfortunately we don't have any other news to share yet.").

I have a Vive, and I have been meaning to install Linux Mint on my gaming rig as a dual boot setup...

Native OSVR support: https://steamcommunity.com/games/433190/announcements/detail/895473822694011115
Would probably work on Linux if the OSVR plugin included in unreal engine did have Linux support. See https://github.com/EpicGames/UnrealEngine/blob/release/Engine/Plugins/Experimental/OSVR/OSVR.uplugin
"WhitelistPlatforms": [ "Win64" ]
Please contact OSVR and tell them you'd like to release for Linux so they see some demand and hurry up with it.

I also have a Razer OSVR HDK 2.0 and run exclusively on GNU/Linux.
Assuming this is still an open request; definitely would like to help.

  • Intel Core i7-4770
  • Intel H87 chipset
  • 4x2GB DDR3 1600
  • GeForce GTX 1070 8GB
  • 250GB Samsung 850 EVO (Ubuntu-GNOME 16.04) / 120GB Kingston SUV400 (Win7 Ultimate)
  • HTC Vive
  • Play area ~2.5m by ~2m

I have the SteamVR Linux beta currently fully operational, Destinations and SSVR run great.
