Mushroom guys + Poison axe
I bought a Poison Axe for the Drider and it gave him a 10% chance to hit on the muhroom guys. Needless to say I failed that mission a number of times before I worked out why. It seems strange that adding poison to an axe makes it useless as a big sharp lump of metal (unless the axe is literally made of poison?)

Hey, Mushroom Men have Poison Resistance - it lowers all Poison attacks on that unit (Poison Axe included).

I guess that's simplification, but it encourages triangle design like in Fire Emblem, so no unit is OP:

On other side - if you try Fire Sword vs. Mushroom Men, you will be getting 90% chance to hit continuously.

Almost the entire enemy force is the same corner of the triangle though... so losing was due to the "bad luck" of having the weapon equipped. I loaded a save, equipped the old weapon and easily won the mission but it felt like cheating :(

i think, should have normal hit chance, or abit decreased. I dongt evolve many units or take the special damages, as usually the campaing puts me agains poison/fire etc immunity enemies

Hmmm... i see your point. Maybe an option to adjust your equipment will help?

I did look for a way to swap while in battle, it would have been very handy!

It would also make bashing open chests during battle and stealing items more exciting if you could equip them immediately. But switching to the best weapon or other equipment item whenever you liked would probably cause balance issues.

It could cost an action but be free in deploy mode...

Of course if you sold your old weapon then it won't really help haha.

During battle it might be very hard to implement, for example how to handle items which add HP or MP? If your hero is 1hp and you unequip Amulet of Life - shall he die? Then you have one-use items - shall counter be reset?

In brief, items change during battle might cause some unexpected effects.

However, in deploy phase that should be fine - it gives you a chance to prepare.

Any thoughts?

Yes during battle sounds more like a full-fledged feature for a new game. Deploy only would work, as long as people know it is there... there is already the preparation screen beforehand so it may be unexpected. I haven't played enough of the game yet to judge how generally useful it would be :)

Sure, let me know what you think later :-)

I know all levels by heart, thus I always knew what to equip. You are right, that there should be some way to change items just before fight, once you saw your enemies. I am just thinking about technical implications of that.

Hey, I have added items dialog during battles. It is only available during deploy turn.

To prevent exploits, some items cannot be equipped/unequipped there, such as Ring of Command (only one so far, maybe here are other exploits somewhere).

Let me know how that works for you before I patch AOF1 and AOF2 as well.

Did you go ahead and uploaded this change? Just seen an AoF1 patch without news on it ^^

Arghhh! Yes - it went out. My fault :-(
I was patching something else and completely forgot about it.

However, as it got released - does it work fine for you?

I haven't tried yet ^^ But i don't see why it would be bad ;)

Yh, hopefully will help with preparing your heroes just before combat.

It;s aimed to fix the issue described above

Yeah, i do read ^^
That's why i don't see any negative side to it, unless there are exploitable items and such but you seemed to have covered the one already.

I tested it out on the mushroom mission, it is easy to find and I think it will be a useful feature :)
