Crash during loading screen (Epidemic, D6, etc) - SOLVED

UPDATE 3 - July 22, 2013

I can confirm that the little patch that went out today has indeed fixed my issue; I just completed the chapter and have started the next. I've noticed a couple people in the comments saying that they've hit a similar issue again later in the game, so I will try to complete the game in the next couple days and keep you guys updated if I encounter the same bug again.

To Sub, and anyone else from the 4A development team reading this: huge thanks to you guys for acknowledging this issue and working so hard to get a fix out so quickly. I'm sure I speak on behalf of everyone here that we really appreciate it. You guys have created an incredibly good game and I'm really looking forward to being able to complete it.

After the recent patch, a lot of people - myself included - have been experiencing the game crashing to desktop during certain loading screens after the end/at the beginning of certain chapters (after saving Anna for me). There are a lot of smaller discussion threads all over the place so it would be nice to have one central location where everyone can discuss this. This way the same information isn't continuously being repeated and we can make the issue more visible.

For reference, the following troubleshooting tips do not work for the vast majority of people:

- Verify Integrity of Game Cache does not work
- Restarting the chapter does not work
- Restarting the game in Safe Mode does not work
- Uninstalling and reinstalling the game does not work
- Downloading someone else's save file off the internet has worked for some people, but many people understandably do not like this solution

Please post your specific issue here and we'll try to get this fixed.

hey guys. Thank you for all your comments here, some of them are really helpful.
Unfortunately, I can't tell you when this trouble will be patched yet, we're still working on it. But I have some possible workaround which may help.
After crash game should ask you to launch it in safe mode. This will launch the game on low resolution and lowest graphical settings. Say "yes" to run in safe mode, go through the loading sequence which crashes, wait for save and then relaunch the game in normal mode and change graphical settings if it is needed. It helped to some of my friends so it may help to you too.
I hope we can patch this tomorrow. I'll keep you in touch

CTD at same part as me, on the loading screen right after saving anna, and you're right im not goin to d/l someone else's saved game - this isnt a good solution

Posted earliar and for me its on the load screen going onto D6, as artyom starts talking on the load screen it cuts off and sends me to my desktop, no error message.

Ive tried every 1 of the methods mentioned up above minus the download of another saved game(this is a non option to me) ive also tried numerous drivers from nvidia and physx.

Same here.. Frustrating. I wonder when will they fix this issue! Im so hooked to the story now i have to stop and wait for it to be fixed.. Any gurus here know how to fix it? :/

I tried all methods mentioned by op, even reinstalling the game. Still crash to desktop during Epidemic loading screen - like after Artyom mentioned a few words.

Tried all the things stated in the opening post and had no success. Game seems otherwise fine just transitioning to another chapter crashes. Artyom manages to squeeze one or two words in before it crashes to the desktop without any error.

Mine crashes at the loading screen of D6 right after Artyom says about 3 words. I've tried safe mode and played around with the settings to no avail. Lets all hope this is not corrupted save files.

Mine crashes at the load screen going into D6, Artyom says a few words and then boom! game crash, iv tryed lowest quality, safe mode, everything except downloading someone elses game.

Was gonna repost my situation here but everything seems covered. Notably I've tried other strange methods like running in DX9, changing my power settings, changing my graphic settings, and running as admin.

When i save anna the game chrashes on the loading screen its game breaking.
