[Linux] No sound ingame (SOLVED)
Just installed this game. It works fine but there is no sound.

Sliders in audio configuration are set to maximum but it doesnt matter because pavucontrol shows that game doesnt uses audio device.

I found how to fix this problem. Need to set this as launch option

SDL_AUDIODRIVER=alsa %command%

Keep in mind, in some setups with pulse audio running, you might have to take some additional steps too. Make sure your ~/.asoundrc is set up for the proper sound card, then issue the following two commands:
pulseaudio --kill
alsactl kill rescan

I had the same issue with pulseaudio and no sound on Gentoo, but nothing here resolved it for me. I found the solution here: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-7059586.html

Thanks! Setting SDL_AUDIODRIVER launch option worked fine on Suse 12.3 with Pulse running. Nothing else was required.

I am also on openSUSE 12.3, but I'm using a USB headset. The "quick trick" mentioned at http://ptspts.blogspot.com/2009/03/how-to-select-alsa-sound-card-and-have.html did the trick for me.

Thank you! So much easier than disabling pulseaudio in YaST for the game.

I would assume that "SDL_AUDIODRIVER=alsa %command%" should work for any game that needs alsa for sound.

Works great on OpenSuse 13.1

Thanks! The SDL_AUDIODRIVER=alsa %command% fix works on OpenSUSE 13.2 as well.

Does anyone else notice a significant slowdown of the game when using the original fix? I.e. run with alsa.... It runs smooth like hell without sound but with the fix it's not even playable.
