Not launching in Xubuntu 14.04
I have a new computer with Xubuntu 14.04 on it. The game will not launch. I press play the screen will go black for a second but then will take me back to my library. Any idea how to fix this?

Implying I don't have a windows partition. Such an insightful and helpful comment by the way, your parents would be proud. If anyone would like to give some actual help, I'd be more than greatful.

Ah, when some that of which should be aboustly dripping with sarcasm turns up more stale than a rock-infused loaf of bread.

Ah, depends on specfic situations. I personally haven't had any problems with windows 8, but apparently some people think it's horrible and can't even compare to windows 7.
It's general consensus that Windows 7 is a better operating system than Windows 8. Makes your suggestion of going out and grabbing a Windows PC even more unhelpful.

Fine then, windows 7.
Still, why is windows 8 horrible?

I have windows 7 on a partition. I just like playing around with different operating systems... plus Xubuntu, so far, is faster than 7. Though 7 is probably fragmented all to hell since I never defrag.

I used it for several weeks. It's a disaster on a pc. Clumsy, awkward, unnecessary and overpriced.

Yo. I have Xubuntu installed on an Intel NUC. Love that fast little OS. It's a shame that more games aren't Linux compatible but at least OnLive is available on it via PlayOnLinux.

Why would I want to do that when the game runs natively on linux?
Meaning only that Metro LL is an exception that proves the rule about games on Linux.

i have 280 games and all play on windows 8, i tried linux and only 42 were compatible and half of them never worked including metro LL so yes linux is one big joke and it should be laid to rest just like windows 7:died:
7 is better than 8 though... If I wanted a clunky UI that was designed for touch screens I'd get an ipad. 7 is the most stable os they've got now since they killed off xp. And rumors of windows 9 being always online and cloud based makes switching to linux more appealing.

Clumsy- Didn't notice.
Awkward- Didn't notice.
Unnecessary- Partially.
Overpriced- Didn't notice.

It's all preference really. Windows 7 to me is ultimately better than 8. I'm liking Xubuntu way better than 7 at the moment though.
