Crashes on Direct X 11? I have a new GTX 670 so I should be capable.

I've narrowed down the cause of my Metro 2033 crashes to be DirectX 11. It only crashes when running it through DX11. Other games run DX11 just fine so are there any fixes?

i just had this problem, look it up on youtube and that may help. otherwise, restart your computer after the error message comes up .it worked for me when i restarted

It comes up very often, I upped the voltage on my gpu and it works better now (lasts about 12-20 minutes now before crashes.)

I've found that games that run DX11 that randomly crash like this can usually run flawlessly in Windowed mode.

I'll try that out. So far my method of "fixing" this game has been to play through it in 20 minute bursts.

^ considering ATI sucks for 99% of the gaming market compared to Nvidia's line, yeah no. The 7990 I read up on is only 30% faster than the gtx 650 and costs 799$..LOL

oh great, i went 670 SLI at the weekend and I'm reinstalling this now to try it in 3D, hope it doesnt crash as well.

@Foulplay, please let me know how it runs. I ended up just beating the game by playing 20-30 minutes at a time. I got tired of messing with it.

i guess Display driver stopped responding and has recovered message appears after a black screen?

if yes and you have overclocked your card , revert to stock clock
if running stock already try underclocking your card a bit( 20-30 mhz) , or raise voltage

(programs to change clocks are msi afterburner or evga precision)


it may happen to other dx 11 games as well eg crysis 2 far cry 2 etc

Use dx9, its not much different unless your life revolves around one-upmanship.

I purchased a directX 11 compatable card, and a directX 11 compatable game. I expect nothing below an 11 on that direct X

The same thing happened with batman ac not running very well in dx11, it upset people but the truth is dx11 don't look any better on this game.

BTW, are you using the nvidia control panel to force vsync on?, if your not then try that.

Ouch, i was lucky enough that my Geforce 8500 GT could play it fine and still looked great for me.

While I cant run DX 11 without lag, my GT 555m can run it pretty well without crashing.
