Game Crashes on First Shots (not on startup)
just as the title says, it starts up just fine, i go through the little movement tutorial (pick up the ammo, open the door ect) and as soon as the first moment of combat starts up i try to fire my rifle and the game locks up completely, i have updated all my drivers, as well as used the directx/physx installations in the install folder with no change

i had attempted several months ago (when puchased the game) to get help from thq, but that got nowhere (had a similar issue with saints row 3, ended up going through EA's helpdesk for that, but EA doesnt have thier web-helpdesk set up for Metro 2033)

Any help at all would be appreciated, thanks :D

well the best well i mean easiest would be to uninstall then reistall or try changing quality because when mine first started it was on high and my computer couldnt handle it.

I'm having the same issue and my computer can handle this game easily. But, I have gone the route of lowering the graphics to a minimum and it still crashes to the desktop. I have an open ticket with Steam and nothing they have asked me to do has proven useful and now I'm asking for a refund or store credit, to which they are simply not responding.

I get tired of Steam not owning up to their end of the problem. Many people have had similar issues with this game and other games like it. Steam shouldn't allow those games to be promoted in a false light and us consumers shouldn't have to search the forums just to know if a game works as intended before wasting our money.

The funniest part about all this, is the fact that I bought it over the holidays when it went on sale. So not only does Steam not warn us that the game has some serious problems that render it completely unplayable, but they instead go the opposite direction and flaunt it with a sale.

Our modern times are an endless quest for quality that we will never find.

i've tried uninstall/reinstall and my computer is far beyond the requirements for the game, so i know it isnt a problem there. i would be more upset but honestly i picked it up in the THQ bundle so i am not expecting (or asking for) a refund, (quite happy with the handful of games i actually bought the bundle for...since it was cheaper than buying them individually)

i did manage to discover a fix of sorts, i set it into windowed mode and i dont end up with any problem, could be an issue with directx
