Audio frustrations...
Anyone else hate how everyone seems to talk at once, all very loudly, when in public / storytime places?

To use an example during the opening, when wandering around Artyums starting metro, it's as though all the npcs begin talking at once. Well maybe not at once, but the dialouge cue time is fairly quick. I assume it might work like Half Life 2, where the player has to get within a certain range of the NPCs for them to activate. In this game, it seems like that space is further away, so it's easy to cue 4 or 5 different NPCs talking....

But they all seem to talk at the same volume(?)

Oh god, this is so frustrating. I'm wearing headphones and it doesn't help, and I doubt this is a glitch... just the way it is. Does anyone else feel the same way?

I just wish there was some way to cue the audio a little better, maybe have background chatter turned a bit down...

Other than that, great game so far... can't wait for Metro 2034! :)

hm, you must get close to the dudes so they start talking.

pffft

Ok, again:

It appears the range the player has to pass to activate a scripted event (mostly verbal related, most noticable in opening areas) is rather large. It's easy to accidently cue numerous people all trying to talk over each other.

Another example is the "Frontline" level. You hop off the cart and sneak up behind the russians. If you decide to go stealth, you sneak past a few guards (the first set is a commander who begins to sing, the second is two guards talking about rumors, and the third is two guards getting ready to execute someone.) Problem is, the commander at the begining of the level still has audio going on, and it doesn't appear to fade away as I get further away, so it's like trying to hear 3 conversations at once.

But the worst is the opening areas, it's not uncommon to have multiple npcs all talking the same volume at once.

Again, after playing more of it, I don't think it's a glitch. Just ♥♥♥♥ty audio design. Hope they play test the sequel a little more in depth.

Hmm, I've never had problems you are describing (especially the audio falloff). Then again, I have ASUS Xonar card
