I bought this game a long time ago in a sale and never really though much of it. I installed and played about 15 minutes and let it sit there for months.

Once I finally decided to give it a fair shot it was one of the most intense and enjoyable shooters I have experienced. If you give this game at least an hour you should be hooked.

-Enjoy survival Horror
-Want an interesting FPS story
-Want an immersive FPS game

-Have no money...
-Can't stand FPS genre

Have to agree with Mongoose, the RPG angle is misleading. This isn't an RPG by any stretch. You can buy guns (although money is hard to come by) and that's about it.

I LOVE the Stalker series, and was told this game was similar so I bought it. I personally didn't like it, and I think the main reason why is because I was expecting a game like Stalker(which it sure as hell isn't - please stop making comparing the two as they honestly have very little in common).

That's honestly pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ advice. A. You haven't played that game yet so you're basically buying into hype, and B. Metro 2033 is MUCH cheaper, and thus you'll lose less if you don't like the game / setting / theme / plot / whatever.

Actually buy this if you like "Half-Life" style shooters (I mean the first HL ofc).
The only similarity to Stalker i can come up with is setting - both have post-apoc russian ruins in them.
It has no "RPG" in it, it's a completely linear experience with multiple ways to approach most of situations (so it's not a strictly 'on-rails' shooter even if its title, "Metro" suggests you otherwise)
This game has two things some might not like:
1) it's realistic to the point it starts to annoy some people (like, dudes don't die from one shot WTH - yeah, because you are shooting homemade ammo with a homemade gun; switch to ranger modes if you can't bear it)
2) it's story driven to the point you actually need to listen what other characters tell you, and english VO is very cheap (switch to russian VO with subs for immersion, can be done with one click in the settings screen; subs still don't fully translate everything that's spoken in russian)
