Is it me, or do head shots not count as one hit kills for humans?
I've just used a scoped .44 magnum, silenced, and emptied all 6 rounds into some dudes head at 12 feet and.. well, he just shrugged it off. I know ruskies are tough but that was ridiculous. Any one else notice this?

It may look ridiculous, but this game doesn't register fatal headshot if you hit the helmet. Got to aim for neck

yea, because if you shoot a metal helmet in real life it will go through
jizas, where are you?

There's one thing with head shots, it varies on what type of ammo you use, and where you shoot the guy, I've never had a problem with this since in most games I go the stealth way, even thou this one is pretty bad in that aspect, but a clear shot from the metal ball weapon does it for most enemies, and I use knives for most guys with helmets since that does the trick every time.

it's because the bullets (the dirty rounds) in this game pack much less punch and have much less range, the dirty rounds are made out of a small amount of gunpowder and some gunpowder Substitute, also silenced pistols have much less range and less piercing abilities

if you use an AK with premium rounds on guys with helmets the bullet will go through stright thorugh their head

this game is very realstic, and if you try to snipe with a silenced pistol bullet will drop and you have to either aim higher, or aim with something with more range

ok, to clarify;

When writing this I had just played through a stealth mission and was using a silenced magnum with a scope. Out of the 8 targets I killed, one wore a helmet. The other 7 had no head protection. The headshots registered on 3 targets, the others simply stumbled and then dived into cover.

I understand the difference between ammo type. My gripe was that seemingly similar headshots were being treated differently by the game.

Anyway, I finished it last night. Was a great game. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Your problem might be accuracy and not penetration power. The silenced weapons are especially inaccurate (the silenced pistol with stock is less accurate than the regular revolver if I recall correctly). The scope has no effect on accuracy at all, it does not improve your aim if you take the scoped silencer over the normal one (the distances you fight at are not worth using any scoped weapon in this game tbh, the only place where it marginally might have been useful was the bridge where reds and nazis clashed, and I made that part fine with just ironsights).

In my case, the scope even made me less accurate, cause my aim would not be smooth anymore (the scope would jump three to five pixels when moving, making proper aiming feel off).

If you want an accurate, silenced weapon with some man stopping power, use the pneumatic guns. Those are great. The revolver should be the variant with stock and extended barrel, that one is a great support weapon that has good stopping power and almost the accuracy of the better rifles in the games.

yeah agreed, the scopes seem a little off. Bear in mind though that I was within 10 feet of these guys. I'm particularly stubborn with shooting mechanics, so I replayed this section over and over, trying different firing positions, ranges and shot placements (face vs side of head vs back of head etc). seemed that back of head shots were OSK's while the other angles varried in results.

It's not really a fundamental requirement in this game as there is only a handful of stealth sections, and these sections aren't required to be stealthy, its optional.

Generally if you shoot several centimers of solid metal with non-armor piercing rounds, as is the case with most guns in this game, then no, headshots will not kill.
