Need Metro 2033 on Linux!
Just bought Metro Last Light's Linux version and wouldn't mind playing 2033 on Linux as well!

I haven't got Windows and probably will never have it at home again now that I have swallowed the red pill.

+1. Please, allow us to play the entire franchise on Linux

Unfortunately never gonna happen.
And if it would it probably would be some fan-made mod to something but i doubt about it either.

+1. Spectator, you do realize that Last Light is on linux, right?

Yeah got it the day it came out and bought the all in one pack which includes 2033. That's why I'm hoping they port it!

I sent them an e-mail asking this a few days back. So far, no response.

Well hopefully they realise there is a sizeable market out there which is growing!
I suppose they are testing the waters first with LL to see how many end up downloading the Linux version.
But the writing is on the wall SteamOS is releasing next year and people are tired of wasting hundreds on M$ Windows for home use when Linux can provide virtually everything the most expensive Windows version has to offer...

Carol in HR, do you realize original developer gone bankrupt and there will nothing ever happen about metro 2033 anymore? There will be no more updates, no linux port, nor anything else related to metro 2033.

Last Light is totally other kind of story.

@SpectatorX

What are you on about? Metro 2033's publisher and developers are the same as Last Light's. They could technically port 2033 to other platforms since the 4A Engine has been ported for Last Light. I hope they do!

EDIT: My bad, THQ was 2033's editor, and yes, they went bankrupt. But the developers are still there, and Deep Silver has acquired the rights to publish the Metro franchise, so that is not a problem.

It is a problem from buisness point of view, nobody would go back to old product, otherwise we could have game optimized as well as last light is and linux port could be possible, bu never gonna happen, reason: money.

So when someone buys 2033 where does the money go? to Deep Silver?

I guess so, and to the devs of course.

And yet some devs and publisher have ported their older games to linux. Duke Nukem 3D Megaton Edition, Shadow Warrior, the X series (Deep Silver also!), I have no mouth and I must scream, etc... So it's not entirely impossible for them to port 2033.

I wish they would port this game, I started playing Last Light no linux, and also started reading the book, and would love to play this game. But I don`t have windows anymore.

I think that if lots od people buy the last light and play it on linux they will realize the market of linux players doesn`t own 2033, and they will port it if there is a chance that the nuimber of sells is bigger that the effort to port the game (which I thuink should only be bug fixing since 4A engine is already ported).

I hope so!

However, I believe Metro 2033 runs in WINE so I may give it a shot next week. I still have a backlog of games to go through.
