FIX!! METRO 2033 CRASHES ON BOOTUP/BREAKS AFTER INSTALLING LAST LIGHT

If M2033 (Metro 2033) crashes at the 4A publisher splash when the game boots, it's likely a problem with your PhysX drivers and if you didn't have this problem prior to installing M:LL (Metro: Last Light) [Which is unlikely relative to all of the data posted throughout this games forums section] then installing last light ruined your fix for M2033 or ruined you're one of a kind fluid installation.

Here's an exerpt from a comment of mine on a previous thread

"Funnily enough I had this issue prior to me recieveing "Last Light" within the last five hours twice before hand and the same PhysX fix works every time. Installing Last Light actually broke my 2033 because it does it's own driver patch and downloading a driver installer with an executable extension doesn't work because it detects a driver version that surpases the install, however the PhysX 9.13 installer with the .msi extention works because it unpacks rather than installs. Basically. Any other drivers that get thrown into metro's root driver directory other than the drivers used in the fix breaks 2033. I'm still unsure if fixing 2033 breaks Last Light though. It could be a vicious cycle of patching for either game.

Still havent tested 2033 after the PhysX fix post last light breaking 2033. Worse comes to worse just uninstall Last Light and patch for 2033.

Patch for M2033 works. Texting LL now.

So basically, patch with the PhysX9.13.MSI from this link:

this fix did not work for me. plus i already instaled thwe lastest verion of the physx patch in order to play the velvet assassin. i am currently reinstalling metro 2033. I also do not have metro last light, as i've seen other people say that it messes with it'd prequel

I find it strange how the fix for Velvet Assassin fixed my Metro as well the first time. It's also unfortunate how there are multiple games with this issue.

Maybe the fix for Velvet Assassin is interfearing with Metro? Because I haven't got Velvet Assassin installed right now so.

i have deleted velvet assassin, still waiting to reinstall metro 2033. i'm going to try to uninstall and reinstall the physx patch. feel like i should waited till i tried all this before posting but....

I actually have PhysX 10.1 installed but the .msi patcher I talk about unpacs an installation of the 9.13 drivers without actually carrying out an installation, so I actually ave both driver sets installed and metro boots up on 9.13, it just puts the things where they need to go. A .exe installer checks for a version so it makes sure it isn't carrying out a redundant process and it actually overwrights the drivers. Worse comes to worse just google for a .msi installer of PhysX Ver9.13

I had the same problem, after downloading last light my metro would crash on start up. i uninstalled both and downloaded metro 2033 only and its starting up again. but both of my metro 2033 and last light lag in gameplay. its hard to explain in a comment but. when im walking and or a cut scene just a little bit of a lag here and there. but when stuff starts to pick up , and i start shooting and getting attacked is when i start to lag alot.

Try turning your graphics settings down or running it on DX11 if you can.
